Pulling off the ball is the #1 issue hitters struggle with. (they would agree) To fix it, you don't need to try harder or swing slower. Schwarber proves that. He hits the longest home runs without coming off the ball. How to correct it: Shoulder in, chin and face in on the ball and swing the bat over your front shoulder. Then hold the finish (Arraez swing and finish drill he did in the video) It's worked WONDERS for hitters I've used it with when they need it.

Some hitters constantly pull off the ball or get spinny. One reason could be related to Motor Shoulder. Every athlete has one shoulder that naturally sits slightly in front of the other. That shoulder often becomes the one that helps drive direction during rotation. In Motor Preferences we commonly see two patterns (with nuance): Back Motor Shoulder Keep the shoulders more in line with the pitcher so the back shoulder can work through and drive direction. Front Motor Shoulder Allow the athlete to load the front shoulder in so when rotation happens they can maintain direction through the middle of the field. The goal isn’t to force the same swing. It’s understanding the ranges of motion the athlete naturally organizes around and coaching toward them. We go deeper on Motor Shoulder and Motor Preferences in the Level 1 Baseball/Softball eCourse.

Elly De La Cruz (based on observation): • Right motor shoulder • Left extension leg Lefty: • Back leg axis of rotation • Loads into front shoulder • Shorter finish • Catches himself on back leg Righty: • Front leg axis of rotation • Stays more square • Longer finish • Catches himself on front leg Same athlete. Same system. Just shows up differently on each side. Do not force symmetry. Align the movement to the athlete, not the other way around. #MotorPreferences
