Can GPT-6 Astra actually create a 3D model like this? 🤔 I’ve been seeing people hype GPT-6 Astra looooot when it comes to 3D modeling, but can it really create 3D models with this level of detail? Wish i had access to try it,.. anyway, I created this one... show more

All I see are early access demos from pseudo-YouTube influencers who talk about AI images one day, AI videos the next, and 3D the third, despite not knowing how to create 3D model. Why does OpenAI even choose these clueless clowns, and what do they expect to gain from it?

Good question 😂

Those 3d assets are cool but still a pain in the ass because you have to rig them. So I hope Astra can build high end 3d models and perfectly rig their movements, which it seems it can..

Claude did rig a fish model for me so Astra should be able to do that too and hopefully better Right now I'm trying to rig this model using Kimi K3

I think Astra is gonna blow everything out the water.. From what ive seen before iam shocked. Iam prepared for ASI to happen soon now for a few years, but yesterday i was laying in bed unable to sleep with my mind racing...

@thebuggeddev Can it do animations tho

@balubabear1312 i'm trying some animations with Kimi K3 for this mode right now, will update as soon as it's ready

@ItHurtsOooGoooD Kimi 3 is like trash compared to astra

from what I’ve read, GPT-6 Astra's 3D modeling claims seem ambitious but untested

Haha, typical. I’m on the Business plan and still don’t have access. Not sure if it’s actually that good or just a random marketing strategy.

Tripo handled the panda. Now let’s see what GPT-6 Astra can build around him 👀

It might do everything but not rigging animation, hoping Tripo does it as soon as possible 👀

The pipeline from 2D concept to clean textured 3D mesh in minutes never gets old. If you end up 3D printing this panda, the support structures around those bamboo stalks are going to be a fun engineering test.

I need to find out a proper printer first 👀

panda looks cute....And yea Astra seem to have a really good spacial awareness which will make it great for 3D model, games, AR/VR etc

hopefully so. Earlier, they hyped SOL way too much, and it didn’t feel as good as Kimi K3

❌ kungfu panda ✅ bamboo panda

Kungfu panda is a bamboo panda on a forest trip

Im curious which 3D printer can print this? It is so fun and cool

Don't know any yet but i've seen some crazy people using these printers to print their 3D models on Tripo's Discord

I just hope 3D model can be free.

It’s almost free. Meshy offers daily free credits, and Tripo also offers some free credits. They also host a lot of fun events where you can earn credits and sometimes even get the Max plan for free through participation or by reaching certain ranks. Also their pricing is cheap.

😱❤️ panda!

😱😍🩷

if it can, that could seriously change the game for indie devs in 3D

it might change whole 3D field, AR/VR and everything (if that's true)

getting one pretty model is easy enough. clean topology and textures you can actually edit is the annoying part. has anyone tested that yet?

Tested with Astra? Not sure about that, but I can definitely vouch for Tripo when it comes to clean topology and textures :)

No, it can't. I tested it in Blender 5.2, and as it stands currently, Astra can't create organic models. It did, however, create a soccer ball with a perfectly round shape and perfectly connecting octagon patches for the black and white look. Still good for hard surface modeling

I need to test that part but i'm low on token now 😂 But but it did a nice rigging of above same model

that panda looks clean af ngl image gen -> 3d pipeline is actually getting scary good lately, tripo's been killing it

Literally, Tripo is leading in the 3D field race

tbh this is kinda scary making models this good... what's it gonna be like in six months? gonna sit here and think where to use this

It isn’t scary, it’s actually pretty good. Imagine the kind of applications you can build and the kind of things you can create now that weren’t possible before because of certain limitations :)

about to start trying to build something now

Just do it and share it with everyone :D

this turned out so good, the panda model looks absolutely beautiful. you nailed the whole vibe

Tripo nailed it but I would gladly accept that credit for inner satisfaction 👀

Tripo vs Meshy 7 - what do you think?

I don't remember if i had tried Meshy 7 but I had recently tried it and I very much prefer Tripo from that day 😅

whats the key difference?

Topology and texture too, it felt so broken and flickering compared to same model outputs by Tripo

hmm, with Meshy 7 they improved topology and now its very good. I had to compare look at the comparison of new models thanks

I'll give it a try one again. I actually found hyper3D better than meshy and close to Tripo

Can you clarify something, I used tripo yesterday, the results were not as good as yours. Did you use a simple generation using TripoP2?

Use Smart Mesh with the highest quad count. If one image isn’t producing a good result, use four images showing different views of the same item and generate. That’s how I do it.

Astra might hit the detail mark eventually, but today Tripo still gives you cleaner topology for quick prototypes

True that

Making a model from an image is cool, but I haven't found a good way to rig and animate it afterwards. I know we can use different rigging tools for the body animations, but is there any tools that can rig and animate a face?

Can tripo also create animations, movement, etc.?

They do basic animations for humanoid models, but not that good yet

sounds promising, but i'd want to see actual results first.

Astra almost did gooood riggging and i'm still testing it further 👀

whether it outputs usable topology or just a pretty mesh you can't rig or edit later

Whether who? GPT 6 Astra?

Rigged and animated is the hard part I’m hoping Astra solves

same here, or maybe it would be even better if Tripo could do it on its own :D

That panda model looks super detailed

I used GPT-6-Astra to create Death Stranding.

No face rig No point

Tripo3d can make me code?

Tripo was actually the right call here. The honest test for “Astra can do 3D” isn’t a one-off render, it’s editability — can you push one joint and have the rig respond coherently? Until then, dedicated tools still win.

Using a generic model to create 3D content is a disaster.

What?

What I mean is that the output quality of a general model like Astra is significantly lower than that of specialized models like Tripo AI or Hunyuan 3D.

Ahh, you really called GPT-6 Astra as generic model when people are hyping it as AGI almost? :D

@IFITALEX Generalist vs specialist, i guess that's what he's trying to bring out

@IFITALEX That makes sense but generalist paired with Blender mcp may not be generalist?

@vildanden_ai The problem of the translation software 😂, the English level is too poor
