Check out this incredible 3D trajectory of the parachuted sensor as it completed three revolutions around the #tornado, with widet circumference with height. The sensor then sampled the “vent” at the upper reaches of the dynamic pipe. It reached velocities of at least 140 mph. This is a historic... show more

@TheGreenOldDill

This is very impressive. The crew of "Twister" would be proud of you. Never stop shooting tornados.

Is it possible to use radar data to project a 3D representation of the storm onto this data over the same timeframe? Would be an awesome visualization.

Reminds me of Twister, now y'all are doing it in real life.

Did I correctly read 193.6 mph horizontal wind from the data set on

That is in feet per second

So cool! Sorry if I'm dumb for asking - I'm sure the probes are subjected to a whole hell of a lot on that ride up - why is it hard to continue tracking the GPS signal down to a landing site? Do they get damaged?

That is quite an accomplishment. Science for the good of mankind. Congrats Reed and the entire team. 🏆🌪️

That's what you call "science the shit out of it," and it's a lot of fun. Nerds rock!!!

@TheGreenOldDill Congrats!

@KJ_Chasing Incredible!

What it's all about, congratulations, Reed and team Dominator 💪 science for the W.

This is amazing!

@localmanweather Congratulations @WillClay25 That’s incredible! I hope this allows us to learn much more about these disastrous tornadoes.

“Dorthy is flying!”

Do they still call them dropsondes? I made them for NCAR in the early 1990's

AGL?

Above ground level

T-shirt cannons go wild in 2026! 😲

@TheGreenOldDill Very cool! Just a question though, if I may. Why not send a sturdy (disposable) drone loaded with a basket of sensors into the mouth of one of these? Does the ground wind speed prevent that? I haven’t been following so maybe that’s what this is.

I saw you launch this on the live! Amazing work! A perfect piggy tail!

Spent an hour interpreting this with Grok very impressive. Massive step forward for storm science. Real data, real progress. Huge props to the team for pushing boundaries safely.

@TrentTelenko

@FlatlanderHank So damn cool

Congratulations, good sir. Amazing achievement.

What's that alititude at the top? How many Empire State Buildings tall? I always love those comparisons!

living in the future really kicks ass. just incredible what technology + a small group of people can accomplish these days.

Not parachuting for beginners!

Will Clay just changed some things, fascinating, incredible job Team Dom. Now just strap a huge speaker on the ride and tell everyone to get off the road

I guess no more chases so sorry Reed ?

Thank you, @ReedTimmerUSA for everything you are doing to improve the lives for Oklahomans and all those who live in the fear of these deadly storms! We all owe you a debt of gratitude🌪️🌪️🌪️

Wow this is really Cool! I always said you are living the Twister movie. Awesome!

Hells yeah LFG!!

@ChrisFLTornado Amazing!
