American cooks grocery store ground beef side by side with ground beef from a local farmers - The color is very different - How it cooks is very different - How it browns, changes color while cooking and smell is different - The finished product of the grocery store beef has an almost translucent look and also has a texture more like Play-Doh “That one, obviously, is the one from the local farmer. Smells amazing, looks great, has great color. I mean, it's not even a comparison” The difference is the way cows can move, their diet, their nutrient density I have also been getting farmer ground beef as well and let me just say there is absolutely no comparison to grocery store ground beef. The grocery store beef is so obviously processed and ‘fake tasting’ once you have real ground beef We need to go back to smaller local farms and completely rethink how we manage our food supply

Secretary Brooke Rollins: "The president made the decision that, for a short 90 days, there's a lot of ground beef -- this is just ground beef -- there's a lot of ground beef that's sitting in other countries that would potentially help serve Americans, especially lower-income Americans who really lean into -- 'lean into' -- the lean ground beef. And so this is a very short-term fix from the president's perspective, that he believed necessary to get lower cost beef onto American plates." Me: Where is the U.S. importing this beef from? 5th Generation Cattle Rancher Steve Lucie: I think at this point, we should be all-in on what's happening... We have the lowest beef herd that we've had since 1950 and that's because so many people have gotten out of the industry. If we could've exported more of our beef, I don't think we would've lost all these farmers and ranchers.

Mandatory Country Of Origin Labeling on beef was rescinded in 2015, and since that time, American shelves have been flooded with beef labeled "Product of the USA," despite the fact that it was from animals born, raised and slaughtered overseas. It appears that after the first of this coming year, "Product of USA" will once again mean that the animals were born, raised and slaughtered in the United States of America. Unfortunately, this is not a mandatory ruling, so no country of origin is required to be put on the label. It is our hope that this small change will once again allow American farmers to differentiate domestic product from imported product.
