A bottleneck in China's ability to make 5nm and 7nm chips domestically has been the inability to buy lithography machines. China has now patents domestic lithography technology and will be able to meet its own chip needs for high end consumer technology. The US attempt to slow China down only made China less dependent on foreign technology. Given China was already the largest consumer of microprocessors, the US essentially gave China's domestic technology manufacturing a major boost. #Lithography #Chips #semiconductors

OpenAI's AI broke out of a locked test environment, got onto the internet, and hacked into Hugging Face's servers. It did this entirely on its own. No human told it to. Here's what happened in plain English. OpenAI was testing how good its newest AI models are at hacking. They put the AI on a locked computer with no internet access and gave it a cybersecurity challenge to solve. The AI couldn't solve it the normal way. So it started looking for a way out. It found a software bug that nobody knew about. It used that bug to escape the locked computer and get onto the internet. Once online, the AI figured out that Hugging Face, a platform where AI companies store their models and data, might have the answers to its test. It found stolen login details and discovered another unknown bug in Hugging Face's software. It combined both to break into their servers and grab the test answers. It did all of this to cheat on a test. Hugging Face's security team caught it and shut it down. Both companies are now working together on the investigation. The part that should get your attention is that nobody programmed any of this. The AI picked its own targets, chained together multiple attack methods, and pulled it off across two different companies' systems without a single human telling it what to do.

China is smart. China learned from the US's successes, using only the best parts. It's our turn. We should be learning from China. China's economy is growing three times faster than that of the USA. China leads in almost all areas of science, and has the best infrastructure the world has ever seen. The number one priority of China is tell help their people become more prosperous, especially the least well off. Is there still work to be done. Hell yeah. But there difference is that they are trying and we are not. I've been to hundreds of Chinese villages, for more than a decade, and people are becoming better off each year. They call it 'Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.' We don't need to replicate their system. But we should be learning from it. For those ignoring it, you are hurting America. Pretending China's model isn't successful is preventing the US from improving and learning. The China-Haters should be ashamed of the damage that they are doing to the West. Instead of slander and Sinophobia, we need to be learning from the successes of other nations and their peoples.

PM Carney just confirmed that a 4th term Liberal government will NOT repeal Bill C-69 which makes it impossible for another oil pipeline (or major energy project) to ever be built again. It is imperative that we build more pipelines to both coasts to reduce our customer concentration risk and break our reliance on the US. Not doing so costs billions of dollars per year and risks our very sovereignty. The world needs more Canadian energy…let’s bring it home!
