Christopher Nolan: "Going to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago when I was 16 years old, seeing a documentary about volcanoes in the OmniMax format, and thinking... why on earth isn't Hollywood using this format? I always wanted to be a director. If I ever got the chance, could I shoot a film in this way?" Christian Bale desperately needs Christopher Nolan right now. And Nolan, to be quite frank, doesn’t need anyone. I say this because Bale is at a crossroads. He hasn’t starred in a good film in years. And I say that as a card-carrying member of the Christian Bale Fan Club. I love this man. I love his commitment. I love his persona. But films like Amsterdam, Thor: Love and Thunder, and this year’s The Bride! are all atrocious films. All of them. It’s the precise reason Bale needs to reunite with Nolan. Nolan is responsible for some of Bale’s best work.
