Clean Roads = Safe Roads 🛣️ The Silk Board Flyover has undergone a deep clean! Let’s keep it that way. ⚠️ Reminder: Dumping waste on flyovers creates accident risks. Flyovers are for transit, not for trash. Practice proper waste management and drive safe! #SilkBoard

Today, I was in Pipeline Estate clearing garbage that had been irresponsibly dumped along the roads by tenants. It’s unfortunate that many landlords in Pipeline do not pay for garbage collection services. As a result, their tenants, lacking proper waste disposal options, are forced to dispose of their household waste directly onto the roads posing serious health and environmental risks. Moving forward, I will lead a strict enforcement exercise to ensure that all landlords, caretakers, and tenants involved in this illegal dumping are held accountable. As stipulated in the Nairobi City County Solid Waste Management Act of 2015, every premise owner is responsible for cleanliness within a 10-metre radius of their property. This law will be fully enforced without exception. Let’s keep Nairobi clean and dignified for all.

ONGOING: Following the expiration of compliance notices, LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team has commenced the sealing of non-compliant shops and plazas along the Tejuosho–Ojuelegba corridor. The enforcement action targets premises that failed to comply with waste management regulations and continued the indiscriminate disposal of waste on public roads. A clean Lagos requires compliance, not convenience. We will continue to enforce environmental laws to protect public health, keep our roads clean, and hold offenders accountable. Attention Citizen Drive Safely A girl reportedly lost her balance and hit the side wall of the newly constructed Silk Board flyover. Incidents like this remind us that even a small loss of control can lead to serious consequences. Please ride carefully, maintain a safe speed, avoid sudden manoeuvres, and stay extra alert while travelling on roads and flyovers. Don’t let speed or distractions put your life at risk. Blocked drainage systems are a result of illegal dumping, and the time has come for all of us to adopt the right mindset. We must stop the unnecessary dumping of waste and take full responsibility for the waste we generate at the source. We will take legal action against anyone found engaging in illegal dumping. Let’s work together to keep our city clean and free from blocked drainages.

#HYDTPweBringAwareness 🚫 Don't Turn Flyovers into Parking Lots During Rains!🌧️ During rainy weather, citizens are requested not to park vehicles under flyovers, bridges, or on carriageways. Vehicles parked under flyovers often reduce road space, obstruct traffic movement, and lead to severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours and emergency situations. Such parking also hampers the movement of emergency vehicles 🚑 and road maintenance teams. ✅ Follow traffic rules and police instructions. ✅ Help keep roads clear for smooth and safe traffic movement. Your cooperation can help prevent traffic jams and ensure safer roads for everyone. #HyderabadTraffic #TrafficAwareness #MonsoonSafety #NoParkingUnderFlyovers #RoadSafety #TrafficManagement #DriveSafe #ArriveAlive #PublicSafety

This video should be a reality check for our urban planners. You can stack flyovers, widen roads, and build massive interchanges - but congestion doesn’t disappear, it just moves and multiplies. More roads ≠ less traffic. Real solutions to congestion 👇 > Reliable, affordable public transport > Metro systems & dedicated bus lanes > Last mile connectivity > Walkable neighbourhoods & safe cycling tracks > Smart signals & traffic management

A small kite can cause a big accident. This video shows how a kite string became entangled with a vehicle travelling on the highway, creating a dangerous situation for the driver and other road users. Please avoid flying kites near expressways and busy roads. Parents are also urged to ensure children do not fly kites in these areas. A moment of fun can turn into a serious accident. Stay safe and help keep our roads safe for everyone.

The Lagos State Government has inaugurated a Special Task Force to combat indiscriminate waste dumping across the metropolis, particularly on roads, bus stops, garages, and lay-bys. As part of the initiative, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) will work with government agencies as “waste police” to monitor and report environmental violations. Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi , emphasized that tackling environmental abuse requires collaboration between government and transport unions, warning that offenders will face sanctions. He also directed union leaders to ensure cleanliness in their garages and parks, discourage indiscriminate trading, and remove illegal structures that contribute to waste generation. Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Sam Egube, highlighted the critical role of transport workers in maintaining public order and security, urging them to report suspicious activities and support efforts to keep Lagos clean and safe. LAWMA Managing Director, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, PhD , noted that Lagos generates about 13,000 tonnes of waste daily and called on transport unions to help prevent waste disposal on roads, promote proper waste management, and stop street trading around bus stops and newly constructed roads. Stakeholder Sola Giwa assured the unions of government support in enforcing sanitation standards, removing illegal shanties, and maintaining clean transport facilities. In response, the transport unions pledged their commitment to partnering with the government in waste policing and environmental sanitation across Lagos. #AGreaterLagosRising

Leo tumekuwa pale Kangemi, where vendors have been consistently dumping waste in the middle of the road, creating both an environmental and public health hazard. We engaged the market leadership on the best ways to restore environmental order and ensure full compliance with waste management regulations. I also conducted awareness sessions with the traders on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and working together to stop illegal dumping. We will continue to monitor the area closely to ensure full compliance and keep Kangemi clean and safe for everyone.

One Wrong Move Away From Disaster: Electronic city Flyover Bus Crash Exposes Dangerous Driving Culture Beware while driving at high speed on flyovers. This video is from the Electronic City flyover, where two buses collided with each other while trying to pass side by side on the narrow stretch of the flyover. Thankfully, there were no casualties, and only minor damage was reported. However, this incident raises a serious question what if this minor accident had turned into a major tragedy? Flyovers are not meant for risky overtaking or aggressive driving. At high speeds, even a small mistake can lead to catastrophic consequences, endangering not just the drivers but dozens of innocent passengers and other road users. In this case, both buses were from Tamil Nadu and were carrying passengers, making the situation even more alarming.Such incidents highlight the urgent need for patience, discipline, and responsible driving, especially on elevated roads where there is little room for error. Trying to overtake, racing to gain a few seconds, or driving side by side on flyovers puts lives at unnecessary risk. This video, recorded by Appaji K on his dashcam, should serve as a strong reminder to all drivers: maintain safe distance, avoid overtaking on flyovers, and never risk lives for speed or ego. A few seconds of caution can prevent irreversible loss. Let’s drive responsibly and make our roads safer for everyone. Karnataka State Police S. India Is Building Stronger Roads from Farm Waste 🔥🛣️ India imports nearly half the bitumen used to build its roads. Now it has a home-grown alternative that is proving just as strong, and in some cases stronger. Indian scientists have developed bio-bitumen, known as Krishi Bind, made from agricultural waste like rice straw. When blended with conventional bitumen, it has matched and, in laboratory tests, even exceeded the strength and durability of regular road binders. Bio-bitumen is produced through pyrolysis, a clean process that converts crop residue into bio-oil without burning or smoke. This material is then blended into road surfaces that are already being laid on pilot stretches of national highways. India is the first country to produce bio-bitumen commercially for roads. Early field performance shows good resistance to heat, moisture and wear, while long-term monitoring continues. The result is simple: roads that last, fewer oil imports, cleaner air and farm waste turned into value. This is not symbolism. It is durable infrastructure built from what was once burned.
