CNN’s Shermichael Singleton Singleton on last night’s NYC mayoral debate and whether Andrew Cuomo did anything to change the trajectory of the race and a Mamdani victory: “No...I think it’s going to be Mamdani. He’s incredibly talented. As a Republican, I certainly don’t agree with many of his positions. But there is something to be said about the arguments that he’s making to New Yorkers that is palatable. I am concerned about some of his presentations on economics. I’m concerned about the idea of the role of government as it pertains to sort of level setting for people who have economically struggled. I think there’s a different way to go about certain things, but that message is resonating. And if you’re Cuomo, can folks in New York know who Cuomo is? And there’s some real concern about his past misgivings, there’s some concern about some of the things he did as governor. And he didn’t, in my opinion, effectively address those things aggressively enough. Mamdani did. He showcased strength. And even if you’re a New Yorker, you’re curious and maybe say, I don’t disagree with him. You watch that and say, this is a guy who will fight for me, and that moves the needle for voters.”

“There are certain things that he would like me to remain quiet about.” A heated scene unfolded at the Cuyahoga County family court in Cleveland on Wednesday, as the key players in a bitter dispute that has grabbed national headlines assembled in one room. The case is one that Mother Jones reporter Abby Vesoulis has been covering for weeks: a custody fight over the two-year-old daughter of Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) and his ex-wife, Emily Moreno—whose father is Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio). Miller is currently defending himself against Emily's allegations that he held a gun to her head, shoved her against a wall, and threw scalding water at her—all of which he vehemently denies. Despite these allegations, and at least six Republican senators (including his former father-in-law) urging him to drop out, Miller is running for reelection and has vowed to stay in the race. The deadline to replace him on the ballot passed earlier this month. Abby got a rare chance to question Miller directly, just weeks after uncovering more than 2,000 pages of court and police records detailing the abuse allegations. Miller had initially declined to speak to the press after the hearing, referring all inquiries to his attorney. But while his lawyer was speaking, Miller interrupted to deliver what sounded like a veiled threat against Sen. Moreno. "I was a part of that family for a very long time," he said. "There are certain things that he would like me to remain quiet about, and I respectfully have... because that's not my business to share. But it's politically motivated." His lawyer went further, claiming Sen. Moreno "hates Max and wants to destroy Max" and only "came out of the woodwork" to attack Miller once reporters began asking why he had stayed silent about his daughter's allegations.

Willy Rice says they’ve forgotten that “Billy Baptist” matters. “Jerry Vines used to talk about Billy Baptist in his great sermon, ‘A Baptist and his Bible.’ And he created a character of the ordinary Baptist layman or pastor. I think some of our leaders have forgotten about Billy Baptist. Okay, sure, you dunked on some guy at a microphone and made yourself look good. Is that what we want to be? Doesn't that Pastor matter? Shouldn't his question be taken seriously? Should we really want to make fun of him, is that what we want to do? I think that's the problem. We've got to get back to where that guy at that microphone matters.”

He may not identify as a democratic socialist, but there's a reason every single democratic -- prominent socialist in America is endorsing his candidacy. There's a reason why, when you look at polling segmentation of voters, older African American voters are not registering and supporting him in high numbers. Blue-collar, non-college-degreed Michiganders are not supporting him in high numbers. And so, if you're a Democrat and you're trying to figure out your micro-targeting, where can you pull the coalition together to beat a Mike Rogers who, by the way, only lost by 19,000 votes against Elissa Slotkin several years ago, the closest Senate race in Michigan history, you have got to be nervous about whether or not this guy can pull together that traditional coalition that Karen is definitely familiar with as a Democrat, to get him across the finish line. I'm not convinced that he is. There's a lot about this guy and his views that have not been revealed to Michiganders on a broad scale yet. And I promise you, we're going to target him hard and heavy."

Ariel Helwani is asked to share his thoughts on recent comments from Michael Bisping and “Flat Earth” Froch: “My takeaway was I felt really sad for Michael Bisping, because I can’t imagine what it would be like to have once been a ‘bad boy,’ to once be a ‘rule breaker,’ a pioneer, a trailblazer, a guy who marches to the beat of his own drum — to be that guy who did whatever the hell he wanted and didn’t kowtow and didn’t shill — was a rebel. That’s who Michael Bisping was. And the guy that I was watching in that clip in particular, and the guy we have seen over the past year or so — what he has morphed into, what he has turned into — is the polar opposite of that guy. And he knows this. And he has to look at himself in the mirror each and every day and pretend that he is still that guy, and pretend like perhaps that guy never existed, when he knows he has morphed into this zombie, this shill, this guy who has had his brain infected by this virus, all because he wants someone to be like: ‘Good on ya, mate — here’s 5K to call the next Apex card, and please do your best to put over how great all this is. And if you do a good job, we’ll pat you on the head and give you the next big slap fighting gig at the Fontainebleau.’ This is what he is striving for. This man did an excellent job on breaking down FACTS in a clear and understandable timeline of the Republican Party vs the Democratic Party and Black Americans. There is no doubt that the Republican Party has its issues, but the Republican has a POSITIVE history that has better ALL Americans while the Democrats will pander to minorities using Race to DIVIDE Americans.

CNN’s Shermichael Singleton Singleton on #TXSen: “[Ken Paxton’s] going to have to [win Cornyn voters]. That’s 30% of the Republican electorate in the state of Texas. If you listened to his victory speech the other night, he was gracious enough to thank the senator for his service — his public service. The President posted on truth social today an interesting post saying that the senator is going to remain a long-term friend. These are obvious efforts to get the senator at some point, I presume, to maybe directly endorse the attorney general, maybe campaigning with him, maybe lend his name to a couple mailers, phone calls, etc. to try to get this across the finish line. Look, let’s be clear about this, Wolf. This is going to be very expensive. Paul [Begala] is correct. Senator Cornyn would have been a formidable candidate. Unfortunately, the voters and the President saw it a bit differently. So, we’re going to have to spend likely $200 million to get Paxton across the finish line. But it’s still Texas. And while the demographics are starting to change in the state, people moving from California, increased immigration in the state. I don’t think it’s ripe at this point for Democrats to see another statewide race. Maybe come 2028, perhaps, but not now.”
