If you are someone who suffers from wide takeaway that tends to get the club working too far inside, this one’s for you! There’s nothing wrong with have a wide takeaway, in fact, I love seeing a golfer with a nice wide takeaway, however we need to understand that there needs to be SOME loading of the golf club to avoid it getting too far inside. If you only TURN the body and don’t load the club UP, you run the risk of that club getting too far behind you early on. If this is something that is affecting your swing, try feel like you load the club a little earlier during the takeaway 👊🏼

Improve Your Takeaway! Do you struggle to get your golf swing started the right way? Chances are, your takeaway isn’t helping! I see a lot of golfers rotating incorrectly in the takeaway, here’s a drill to master it 🔹Too much rotation causes the club to go inside 🔹Put an alignment stick in between the belt loops, don’t max out rotation, but don’t “not rotate” either 🔹During the takeaway, make sure the alignment stick rotates only a small amount 🔹This will help the club move back on plane, & track right up in front of you Give it a go to improve your takeaway 👊🏼

Every golfer in the world has 2 choices when he hits the golf ball…. Adduct your lead hip to initiate the takeaway (see Jackson Koivun)…. Abduct your reap hip to initiate the takeaway (see Bryson DeChambeau)… If you swing like Jackson that means your left shoulder flexed when you put both hands on the club… If you swing like Bryson that means your right shoulder flexed when you put both hands on the club…. The manner in which you secure the club and approach the ball is how you control how your body moves when you swing the golf club….

How to set up the tee for a pitch down the middle, inside & outside. I see far too many athletes setting up incorrectly when doing tee work at my clinics and I see it from all ages. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have the tee in the correct spot. You can have the best swing in the world but if your contact point is off, it does you no good. For a pitch down the middle, you’ll want to make contact with the ball about even with your front foot in order to stay connected and hit for maximum power. Inside will be right outside of front foot and outside will be right inside of front foot. Letting the ball travel too deep will jam you and catching too far out front will force you to hit the ball off the end of the bat and roll over. So for those wanting to change swing mechanics so quickly for mishitting the ball, check your contact points first.
