The group had links to the 764 network and to the Ukrainian terrorist group MKY and appeared to be operated by Russian actors. In January, the group was responsible for a slew of school shooting hoaxes and swattings in Texas. They also claimed to be responsible for vehicle arsons in the US, Germany, and Italy. As the scope of Eterssa's activities expanded, the group began claiming responsiblity for other terror acts, including the recent mass shooting in San Diego. They flooded social media with propaganda videos threatening bombings in various locations. I became aware of this group when they posted one of their videos in my comments section. Members of the group, angry with my reporting on MKY and 764, threatened to bomb my house and have me assassinated. So uh... things got hot for a bit🥴 Now, an international investigation has finally led to the arrest of most members of Eterssa, including their leader, "Flester", in Russia. The Russian FSB announced today that the 17-year-old was arrested in Dagestan and described him as the founder and administrator of “one of the largest international online communities linked to terrorist organizations.” They published footage of the arrest (video below). The FDA just announced there’s another cyclospora outbreak. Seventy-two people have been linked to the new outbreak, according to an update posted on the agency’s website Wednesday. While the agency has launched traceback investigations, it has not provided any information on the source of the parasite or the outbreak location. Messaging around these outbreaks has been confusing and health experts say that’s in part because of the difficulty in tracking the parasite, which also can’t be reproduced in a lab. The previous major outbreak, focused in Michigan and four surrounding states, has been linked to shredded iceberg lettuce sold by Taylor Farms and grown in central Mexico, though that’s not been confirmed through lab testing. On Friday, the Washington Post reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has linked this outbreak to four additional states — Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania — bringing the total to nine. Meanwhile, individual cases of cyclosporiasis have now been reported in 41 states. While we wait for more information, these are still good food safety tips to follow: Wash hands with soap and water before handling food. Alcohol-based sanitizers don’t kill cyclospora, but soap and water is highly effective. Make sure to wash your produce well and cook food to at least 158 degrees Fahrenheit. Lastly, stay away from recalled produce and wash surfaces that it may have touched.

A few observations from Khamenei's speech--his first after the historic protests in #Iran last night. (1) This was a classic Khamenei speech. He didn't give an inch. Doubled down. Deflected. He's been marinating for four decades in his ideology and conspiratorial thinking. And he had a front row seat for the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Khamenei believed because the Shah made concessions that contributed to his downfall. Therefore, that is a lesson Khamenei has applied to all rounds of protests, so he will likely hold firm. This is why the Iranian people have concluded the Islamic Republic must go. It can't be reformed. (2) Khamenei delivered the speech from the Imam Khomeini Husseiniyeh in a public setting--which is attached to his office likely to show he is not hiding underground and hasn't fled. It's also why I'm skeptical of reports Khamenei has plans to flee. He will die in Iran, in my assessment, as it's not like he has extensive ties abroad. He's different in that way. Perhaps others around him would flee, but not him.

The Engine Start Levers or Fuel Cut off switches (different name, same switches) control the fuel and ignition for the engines. The 787 shares the same switches and very similar logic to the Boeing 737 Max. The switches have been designed in such a way that they require a very deliberate movement in order for them to move from one position to another. They’re also placed in such a position (below the thrust levers) so that it’s very unlikely that they’ll be knocked. But even if they were, the spring force and detent would prevent them from moving unintentionally. When we move the start levers from the “Run” or “Idle” position, to “Cutoff”, an electrical signal is sent to move the fuel valves from open to close. The engine ignitors are also then de-powered. This stops the supply and ignition of fuel and the engine spools down. The Engine Start Levers or Fuel Cut off switches (different name, same switches) control the fuel and ignition for the engines. The 787 shares the same switches and very similar logic to the Boeing 737 Max. The switches have been designed in such a way that they require a very deliberate movement in order for them to move from one position to another. They’re also placed in such a position (below the thrust levers) so that it’s very unlikely that they’ll be knocked. But even if they were, the spring force and detent would prevent them from moving unintentionally. When we move the start levers from the “Run” or “Idle” position, to “Cutoff”, an electrical signal is sent to move the fuel valves from open to close. The engine ignitors are also then de-powered. This stops the supply and ignition of fuel and the engine spools down. On Thursday, the Iran-linked front group Ashab al-Yamin claimed responsibility for directing two drones at the Israeli embassy in London (Israel in the UK 🇮🇱🤝🇬🇧). The group claimed the drones had "carcinogenic" and "radioactive materials." Reuters and other media reported today that police are investigating an incident near the Israeli embassy. Yesterday, I posted a video of Ashab al-Yamin claiming it targeted the embassy. I isolated the voices in the video it published and picked up additional details that may have been hard to notice (transcribed in the video). One of the suspects in the video speaks in English with a British accent. Also, the Arabic said in the video has an Iraqi accent (H/T to my colleague Ahmad Sharawi for picking that up). The spoken Arabic is also a common saying among Shia Muslims. Some of the video was recorded off a computer monitor. A folder showing .docx and .mp4 files appears in the video for a split second. Some of the files appear to be in English and Arabic. I was able to crop the image of the folder from the video. It is difficult to say if the suspects behind the alleged incident deliberately left this evidence in the video. Nevertheless, it is information that is worth looking into if Ashab al-Yamin's claim is authentic.

Syracuse’s William Kyle III is one of the best Big Man Prospects in this year’s NBA Draft. For the season Kyle averaged 8/7/1 along with 2.5 BPG and 1 SPG, while also shooting 66% from the field. Kyle also led all High Major players in Stocks per game with 3.5. Standing at 6’9 with a 7’3 wingspan and a 44 inch vertical Kyle has the tools and frame you want from an elite defensive big in the NBA. Kyle’s mix of elite athleticism, rim protection, defensive versatility, offensive rebounding, finishing, and motor is all of the traits teams are looking for in their rim running bigs in Kyle is one of the best in the class in all of those areas. On the defensive end Kyle uses his length and athleticism to be a highly impactful rim protector who also doesn’t foul which is extremely rare. He’s also versatile enough to play in a lot of different defensive systems and he's also versatile enough to switch onto smaller players. He’s great at positioning himself for dunks where he finished with 59 this season. Kyle is also an efficient long dunking finisher where he shot 66% on layups. Kyle is also a solid passer for his archetype and has the ability to make plays in short roll situations. Kyle is one of 3 players since 2008 to have a BLK% of 9, a STL% of 2, make 50 dunks or more, while fouling under 3 times a game per 40, joining Brandon Clarke and Anthony Davis as the only other players.
