Current violence in Kashmir did not erupt in isolation. Credible inputs indicate that elements backed by ISI exploited the situation to trigger unrest. What began as peaceful gatherings was deliberately hijacked by anti-national elements (ANEs) who pushed Shia and Sunni youth toward coordinated stone pelting on security forces. The...

[WATCH] THE PRESIDENT WILL NOT RESIGN. When it comes to the President, there is always a distinctive role between him being the President of the party and the state. There are many factors that influence the state in terms of governance and stability. If the President is called upon by some to resign and he keeps quiet it can throw the state into a state of turmoil. I want to make it clear that the officials agreed with the President on his approach, he took us into confidence and explained the factors that led him to make that particular pronouncement. We believe that the President did the right thing in pronouncing in the best interest of South Africa that he will not be resigning. There was nothing in terms of the judgment that warranted the President to resign it was just mere calls made by individuals and political parties that wanted to throw our country into a state of turmoil, uncertainty and anxiety. So it was imperative that he focus on that. It was correct for him to tell the country that from where he is standing there is nothing in the judgement that states he has done any wrongdoing and what he is going to do with the options in front of him and he has made this public. The President will take the Section 89 Report on review based on the outcome of the judgment and the legal advice he has received. There are no daggers out for the President to resign just opportunistic elements. These elements do not know what they want, they want to impeach and want him to resign, they do know what they actually want. The veracity of the report has not been tested in any committee so they don’t have a basis for the President to resign.

They signed it. Amendment Bill No. 3 is law now, and the thing we said would happen has happened, in the quiet, procedural way these things always happen. No drama. A signature. The machinery moved exactly as it was built to move. Understand what was actually done here. This was a conversion of a term limit from a constitutional guarantee into a negotiable inconvenience. Section 328 was meant to be the lock on the door. They have shown us the lock was only ever as strong as the willingness of the people holding the keys to respect it. There will be those who tell you this is legal. They will be technically correct and entirely beside the point. Legality is not the same as legitimacy. A process can follow every step and still hollow out the thing it claims to protect. The Constitution was amended by the exact people the Constitution was written to restrain. That is not the rule of law. That is the rule of whoever holds the pen. I want to be careful about despair, because despair is the goal. A population that believes nothing can change is a population that has agreed to be governed without consent. So let me say the useful thing instead of the bitter one. Constitutions are not defended in the moment they are broken. They are defended in the long years afterward, by people who refuse to accept that the breaking was normal. The record matters. Who voted. Who signed. Who stayed silent. Who said, plainly and for the record, that this was wrong. History is not written by the people who hold the pen today. It is written by the people who kept count. Keep count.

The Yazidis are really starting to annoy me. To begin with, the people who liberated you, protected your honor, and welcomed you were the Kurds. Instead of thanking them, you belittle them?! This Yazidi claims that there is no Kurdish language and that it is actually the Êzdikî language. He also says that the original Kurds were Yazidis because the religion of the Kurds before Islam was Yazidism. (This narrative was promoted by the PKK.) He also claims that “we are older than the Kurds,” which is a lie. First, it is called the Kurdish language, and the Kurds have been mentioned for thousands of years, whereas the idea of a Yazidi nationality was established by the PKK in 2014 after what they call the “liberation.” No historical book has ever described the Yazidis as a nationality, and there was no one in the world a hundred years ago whose ethnicity was “Yazidi.” Second, the religion of the Kurds before Islam was Zoroastrianism, Yazdanism, or Christianity. There was no such thing as a religion called Yazidism at that time. Third, the Yazidi religion is originally a religion that deviated from Islam. They are followers of Adi ibn Musafir, the Arab Sunni Umayyad, who was praised by Ibn Taymiyyah. The tomb of Adi (Sheikh Adi) is located in Lalish today, and the Yazidis worship it. Fourth, when a Kurd calls you Kurds, it is because he loves you and sympathizes with you because of what happened to you. Otherwise, your entire sect is of no benefit to the Kurds. Finally, Sinjar is Kurdish and will remain Kurdish. People of other national identities will be expelled from it. And let me remind you that the backbone of Kurdish nationalism has always been, and still is, the Sunni Kurds, who are deeply devoted to the Kurdish nation.
