China is our adversary. They are building more power than we are, and then using it to power data centers to advance both economic interests and of course military as well. In space, you can keep a satellite in the sun 24 hours a day. The sun is 30% more intense, which results in six times more irradiance than on Earth. So you don't need a battery. The cooling in these data centers is incredibly complicated. Space cooling is free. You just put a radiator on the dark side of the satellite. The only thing faster than a laser going through a fiber optic cable is a laser going through absolute vacuum. Link satellites with lasers, and you have a faster and more coherent network than any data center on Earth."

A local utility company in Illinois has plans to help lower residents electrical bills They will be requiring new data centers and planned data centers to sign 10 year contracts saying they will be responsible for paying for upgrade costs and electricity usage costs “That means any new data centers would be on the hook for power upgrades and any energy they plan to use, even if the data center ends up not getting built or if they don't use as much power as planned or if they close. So if they use the power that they're applying for, then they'll pay their fair share of the cost of maintaining and building our grid through their rates”

I don't worry about the actual firmware stack. I would want every country to be using American chips so that the programmers there are held at bay by our technology. The Chinese are actually trying to develop this on their own. They are beating us in developing a larger electrical grid in China very quickly, because they don't have any permitting problems. And the other area that people have been talking about directly concerning these chips is they have much more compute power. They're building data centers at a rate that's four times ours. We have more data centers, but they're catching up very quickly.

Not only do we have the land, 40,000 acres, we've got a pipeline running through the land, and we have this designation that can accelerate permitting." We're building power from scratch from the pipeline and using Natural gas that we're gonna burn with turbines clean. But we can also give back to the grid. That's good for the community. But for the country, we need to compete with China. We need to lead in AI in perpetuity. Data centers are what we need and we need them now, and Utah's stepped up.

It’s fair to have concerns, but the fact 50% opposed a nuclear power plant versus 75% who opposed data centers shows something else is going on. There are natural concerns (some premised on misinformation like the fact that golf courses consume 20–30× more water than data centers), and some of it is being amplified by China.
