As I told Jon Favreau, If AI isn't safe for kids, it shouldn't be available to kids. I delivered the strongest AI safety bill in the country here in NY, but there's more to do. In Albany, I'm advancing a bill with Kristen Gonzalez that would prohibit AI companies from making their products available to kids if they don't make them safe for kids. I'm running for Congress to do the same, and to make sure no parent is forced to share the Raine family's pain.

Sam Altman recently said, "If AI stays on the trajectory we think it will, then amazing things will be possible. Maybe with 10 gigawatts of compute, AI can figure out how to cure cancer." That's a fine quote. The abundance AI promises is super exciting. But Sam is saying that AI is going to figure out how to cure cancer. And if you've used these tools today, and talked to people who are at the labs, the reality is it's much more likely that humans will use AI to cure cancer. Steve might have said: "If AI stays on the trajectory we think it will, then amazing things will be possible. Maybe with 10 gigawatts of compute, humans can use AI to cure cancer." Small tweak, but a big difference. Steve Jobs was not one to shy away from impressive specs and massive scale, but flipping the final line from "AI will cure cancer" to "Humans will use AI to cure cancer" makes all the difference. Apple under Steve Jobs put human centrality at the heart of everything they did. And we need that spirit to infuse how we communicate about AI today.

Here we go again 🚀! Excited to announce that we're building A1Zap (YC W25) with Pennie Li and that we're in the Y Combinator W25 batch in San Francisco! What is A1Base? A1Base gives AI Agents a real world identity for work. We do that by rebuilding Twilio and Okta from the ground up, putting AI Agents first. This means developers can make AI-first agentic applications 10x easier with our API's. ⁉️ Why are we doing this? Because there's a huge torrent of new valuable companies possible with AI agents, but to get their AI Agents to users, they have to chain custom apps, chat interfaces, awkward Slack integrations, browser bots, and wrestle with Twilio’s legacy API (which is built for marketing). Mo Gawdat believes up to 30% of jobs in certain sectors could disappear by 2028. That stopped me in my tracks. Mo was one of the first people to come on this podcast and warn me about AI, long before most of the world was talking about it. At the time, it felt early. Now, it feels like the world is catching up to what he was seeing. I’m still trying to understand what AI actually means for our lives. Not just whether it can write emails, create images or make us more productive. I mean what it does to jobs. What it does to power. What it does to education. What it does to human connection… That’s why I wanted to have this discussion with Mo again. What makes Mo worth listening to is that he saw these systems inside Google years before most of us had even heard the term AI. His book *Scary Smart* now feels like it was written for this exact moment. Let me explain why this discussion matters. Mo believes we’re not just entering an AI revolution. We’re entering a period where AI, robotics, economics, surveillance, digital currencies and global instability are all colliding at the same time. That’s a lot for any of us to process.
