I’m surprised you’d quote yourself showing that your argument is terrible. Don’t speak of regulation if you aren’t being consistent in its meaning. Also, you say that China is moving fast yet imply that it isn’t moving fast enough to surpass the US based companies? Yes, bad bad China. If it's made in China it must be bad. They built green energy wind farms in Mongolia and solar farms in the Gobi desert AND THEN BUILT THE DATA CENTERS UP NORTH IN UNPOPULATED AREAS next to the green energy providing ALL the AI needs without touching exisiting electrical systems that power the rest of the country.

Wut? There is no meaningful distinction between govt as a regulator, govt as a shareholder, and govt as a manager in China. The regulations will be whatever the government wants them to be... For whatever purpose the government prioritizes... Whether it's the success of the company, the advancement of a particular technology, the benefit of the Chinese people, the defense of the mainland and the party, international strategic considerations, or product safety. Yes of course there are vibrant private and public companies. Literally every company of any significant size has representation by the party. And every significant decision made by those companies is made with the knowledge and tacit approval of the party. And anything done by these parties to embarrass China or the party... Whether the action was legal or not... Creates potentially serious consequences for the managers who took those actions (or inaction). Imagine if you gave Donald Trump a brand new "Department of Large Companies"... And he had board seats and Senior managers of his own choosing at every single large company in the United States... Public or private... As well as people inside every significant foreign company operating in the United States... And he could make any regulations he wanted on the fly without a comment period... At the same rate he makes executive orders... Without judicial review. And he could choose to selectively enforce these new regulations however, he wished... That is not too far from the current China model. Yes regulated But what does regulated mean? And is that a model you want to follow? At the advantage of this " department of large companies" approach... You gain the flexibility of making regulations in real time, adapting them dynamically and enforcing them selectively based on government discretion... So you do gain a nimbleness to dial up or dial down controls... And accelerate or decelerate the pacing... The disadvantage of course is that very few people would be happy with Trump controlling a " department of large companies"... And among the people who would be happy with that... Pretty much none of them would be happy with the other party controlling it in 2/6/10/14 years.

I mean I see it more and more where people are paying with Bitcoin and you know they don't even know about cash anymore. That takes a lot of pressure off our dollar. I think the narrative on AI is very much that occurred when television went to color and everybody said it would wipe out radio. It didn't happen. It's a tool. It's a tool for productivity and margin enhancement. It's just starting to get utilized in all 11 sectors of the economy. My companies use it. But it's nowhere near the disruptor that people think. I'm more concerned about Chinese on AI because they have unlimited power. They are not restricted to set up coal-burning electrical plants. We can't do that. AI right now, for me, is a competition on defense and the military in China. I worry that we're falling behind the Chinese on power on our grid, and we haven't addressed it yet. We do not have policy that lets us build out at the same pace they are.
