Grippers and robot hands are often underestimated, and they are the actuators behind correct and accurate picking, or placing. This robotic hand was created at the Korea University of Technology and Education. 🇰🇷 The 5-finger, 12-DoF (degrees of freedom) robotic hand features 3-DoF each for the thumb, index, and middle fingers, while the ring and little fingers share a combined 3 DoF. It uses BLDC motors with ball-screw actuators and includes a clutch mechanism to absorb impacts and prevent overload. Now, a challenge for you - guess the year! This is a great time to learn #robotics! Robot AI has advanced to where a novice like myself can build / train this folding robot in my garage. The tech is not perfect, but it is improving *very quickly* (exciting new papers daily), and will likely be ubiquitous within 2-3 years. To learn more, great resources are: LeRobot Remi Cadene (open-source software), Alexander Koch , Rob Knight (open-source hardware), Chris Paxton, Stone Tao (news + papers). Also, 50 other grad students that I missed.

Below is our open-source arm assembled by one of the discord members! Also, today Physical Intelligence shared their incredible top-notch robotics model Pi0. And I just want to remind you that you can use our arm together with this model and with LeRobot The arm has the same DOF as the arm used by Pi0, but has smaller size and cost starts from 200$ per arm. You can use better motors like we did in our demos, then it will be more precise and stable but the price will be about $600 per arm. Printable files, purchase list, and help with the assembly - in our discord channel.

Nader Khalil🍊 explains all the hottest emerging AI trends in one demo: AI applications in 2026 will be multi-model, multi-modal, hybrid cloud/local, use open source models as well as proprietary models, control robots and embedded devices in the physical world, and have voice interfaces. (And the demo had a cute robot *and* a cute dog. Gold.) The demo was built with Pipecat AI. NVIDIA posted a really nice technical walk-through and complete code. The Reachy Mini robot from Hugging Face is open source hardware. (You can order it now, I have one!). You can run the assistant locally on your own hardware, in the cloud, or both.

In the video, two robot arms are fully autonomous and controlled by a single neural network conditioned on different language instructions (four axes and five axes robot arms). The other two arms are teleoperated. The entire hardware cost in the video is about $1400. The video is at 1.5x speed.
