🇺🇸 Deterrence lasts exactly as long as nobody tests it Six months ago the question of whether Iran could withstand a war with the United States had no answer. Everyone speculated. Now every capital that was speculating has watched the attempt and drawn its own conclusion. The mistake underneath... show more

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran is now saying openly that it could strike American interests first Gharibabadi's framing is that the country's existence is at stake, so waiting to be attacked before defending itself makes no sense, and preemptive action against American interests sits inside Iranian policy. Read that against yesterday's Axios report that Rubio told regional allies the U.S. is not planning to attack Iran before the midterms. Tehran knows Washington wants out. The larger cost of these six months is that everyone now has the answer to a question nobody could previously settle. Iran can sustain a war against the United States. Moscow saw it. Beijing saw it. Ships getting hit in Hormuz barely makes headlines anymore, and that numbness is its own kind of escalation. Brandon Weichert

🇺🇸🇮🇱 Countries that were rivals two years ago are signing defense pacts, and nobody in Washington drew this map Turkey and Saudi Arabia now have a joint defense agreement. Syria is weighing whether to join. Egypt is expected to follow. Iran and the Gulf states are talking again. None of it was engineered in Washington, and the American response has been to welcome it, since a region covering its own security costs less. Israel sits outside every one of these arrangements. 🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 The U.S. raided its Indo-Pacific arsenal to fight Iran, and none of it is coming back anytime soon. Brandon Weichert says another round of war could leave everyone exposed, and Trump may be negotiating without fully grasping America's offensive limitations. "The United States military of 2026 is not even the same military of 2003 that invaded Iraq. Even though we have all of this money going into the system, it's going to the contractors, not the actual war capabilities." Brandon Weichert

🇺🇸 The guardrails on presidential war powers have eroded to the point where almost nothing stands in the way. Purges through the senior ranks have taught the military what happens to officers who raise objections, and Congress has yet to function as a meaningful check on any of it. Brandon Weichert warns that decisions of this magnitude are now being made unilaterally, which is how a regional war acquires the potential to become something far larger. Brandon Weichert

🇺🇸 🇮🇷 Trump blinked every time before, because he knew Iran meant it. Geopolitics expert Brandon Weichert says that pattern breaks now, and what follows is a ladder with no exit built into it: "The Iranians are going to respond as never before. Then it's going to force us to respond even more. And we now find ourselves in the escalation trap yet again." Each side answering the last answer. Nobody gets out clean this time. Brandon Weichert

It is the greatest defeat of the United States ever, and the whole world is witnessing it. This is the first time, when the Americans and everyone else perceive the US as being defeated. The US basically lost in Vietnam, in Afghanistan, in Iraq, in Libya and Syria, but now with Iran it's the first time, when it is so obvious that everyone agrees on the fact that US is loosing. 🇮🇷🇺🇸 Telling Iran the date you'll bomb it is an invitation... Iran reportedly answered with missiles at a US Navy escort Karen Kwiatkowski spent a career in the Air Force and can't see the logic in announcing a bombing calendar. If someone tells you they're coming in six weeks, you force their hand now, and Iran has the depth in its defenses to take the hit. The strait was open to everyone on February 28. Washington closed it, refused every arrangement that would reopen it safely, and now runs convoys down the far edge with tired crews and no answer to the question of how long. Her verdict is blunt. Trump is writing checks the Navy can't cash, and she expects to lose ships. The retaliation chain is the part nobody in Washington wants to price. Hit Iran's desalination and Iran has said it answers against plants all over the Middle East, and Israel's are just as exposed. Karen Kwiatkowski Brandon Weichert

Ali Bapir, leader of Kurdistan’s second largest Islamist party, attended the funeral of the six fallen Peshmerga and said: “This war has been imposed on Iran by the Zionist entity and the United States, and it is not the Kurdistan Region’s war.” That broadly reflects the Islamist position: • He prayed that the six Peshmerga would be granted martyrdom and that the wounded would recover. • He said the Kurdistan Region has so far stayed out of the war and expressed hope that it would not be drawn into a conflict that is not its own. • He described the war as one imposed on Iran by the Zionist entity and the United States. • He thanked the Kurdistan Region’s leaders for not allowing the Region, so far, to be pulled into the war.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran may be transforming a strategic victory into a catastrophic miscalculation. Geopolitical analyst Brandon Weichert says that for weeks, Iran had gained the upper hand. America's long-range missile stockpiles were running low, its Gulf posture had become more vulnerable, regional states wanted the fighting to stop, and Tehran had the leverage. Now, Brandon thinks Iran may be pushing that leverage too far. During the interview, reports emerged that Iranian lawmakers were preparing legislation that would reportedly: - Ban U.S and Israeli vessels from transiting the Strait of Hormuz. - Block cargo linked to Israel. - Demand compensation from countries that supported the war. - And impose penalties of up to 20% of the cargo value on violators. At the same time, reports suggested Iran was seeking transit fees of between 5% and 7% of each cargo's value. If those numbers hold, Brandon believes the entire diplomatic process could collapse. Not because Iran lacks leverage, but because it may be asking for more than the world is prepared to accept. His concern isn't Washington, it's everyone else. Countries that quietly shifted toward Iran after the war may begin asking whether Tehran is now overplaying its hand. And if that happens, Trump gets exactly what he needs. A political justification to walk away from negotiations, argue that Iran was never serious about peace, and escalate the war. Brandon believes that changes everything. Because the fastest way to lose a winning position is convincing your opponent they have nothing left to lose. Brandon Weichert

Jake Sullivan on Iran: The United States is at war with Iran in the middle of an active shooting war that, in my view, was a war of choice. It did not stem from an imminent threat to the United States. We have yet to hear a clear and distinctive answer to the question: Why? What is this all about and what are we trying to achieve?

It is important to remember the Supreme Court returned the question of abortion to the states and the American people. And it is the American people who elect Presidents, Senators, and Congressman and that is why as President of the United States, I’m going to be a champion for Life in the Oval Office.

🇮🇷 Iran doesn't need to escalate, it just needs to keep this going another year Tehran looks comfortable holding the war right where it sits, no bigger strikes and no retreat, just another six to eighteen months of the same. The logic behind that patience is easy enough to follow. Two months ago the ask was ending the war, and it now includes unfrozen assets, reparations from every country that joined in, and a halt to hostilities well past Iran's own borders, so each round of waiting has priced higher than the one before it. Underneath the concessions sits a bigger wager, that the dollar's reserve status cracks within a few years and whoever holds the physical gold ends up on top, with America nowhere near that list. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 The clock is ticking on U.S. oil reserves, and Iran doesn't need to fire a single shot. Geopolitics Expert Brandon Weichert says Tehran's entire strategy is to sit back and watch America speed toward zero. "Time is an advantage for the Iranians in this war. What disgusts me in the American narrative is the imperial mindset beneath it, because every time Iran strikes American assets they rush to tell us it must be Russia, as though the peoples of this region have no agency, no intelligence services, no military knowledge, no strategic thought, and no capacity to develop weapons or hit targets without a foreign brain instructing them. I reject that completely. Iran has built its own capabilities, its own intelligence networks, and its own deterrence architecture, and this constant attempt to deny that reality is dehumanization, a way of saying that only the empire and its approved powers can possess knowledge, while the rest of the world is treated as backward people who must either be ruled, explained, or destroyed.

🇺🇸 A prophecy made in 2004 is now unfolding in real time, and almost no one saw it coming. Geopolitics Expert Brandon Weichert says a CIA insider warned that bin Laden's pan-Islamic vision would survive his death, and 21 years later, Israel is more isolated than ever. "Israel is going to be more isolated than it has ever been before, and the United States is going to be far too removed." The trap was set decades ago. The question is whether anyone is willing to admit we walked straight into it. Brandon Weichert

🇺🇸 🇦🇫 America left Afghanistan badly and came out stronger, which is the case for leaving the Gulf too The withdrawal looked like a catastrophe and got covered like one, and five years on there's no garrison to defend, no 25th year of that war to fund, and no empire that collapsed over it. Apply that to Hormuz. Iran and Oman are already negotiating who manages the strait, Gulf states are signing their own defense pacts, and none of that arrangement needs an American fleet parked in the middle to referee it. There's a hemisphere of undeveloped resources sitting on this side of the ocean, and every dollar spent guarding someone else's waterway is a dollar that never reaches it. Brandon Weichert

🇺🇸 America’s war with Iran may have taken a much bigger toll on US military capabilities than it first appeared According to The New York Times, the long-range missiles and air-defence systems used during the Iran campaign were among Washington’s key assets for any potential conflict with Russia or China. The newspaper argues that a prolonged war could make Moscow and Beijing more confident — whether in considering a direct confrontation with the United States or more limited moves, such as an invasion of Taiwan or an attack on a NATO country. Both Russia and China have long been closely tracking US weapons stockpiles. Tom Karako, director of the Missile Defense Project at CSIS, warned that US adversaries could decide to act deliberately at a time of their choosing because it may take Washington years to rebuild its forces. While America fights on one front, Moscow and Beijing are already counting how many missiles it has left for the next one.
