People complaining are always non CG/VFX people. It saves them time from modeling mice and animating it for a mid-low budget drama. Accountants arent being vilified for using calculators when it was invented. Also citing Nolan’s work is silly. Thats a 250million drama

I’m affraid that A.I is not going away. We better embrace it as a tool. Human creativity will always be my preference but if A.I as a tool can make the process of filmmaking smoother and more room in a tight budget, i can see why people choose this route.

I don’t know, his reasoning and rationale seems pretty understandable and I don’t like the idea of AI creating art. How is this much different to other previous examples of CG? If he was using it to completely craft scenes or performances, then sure, different discussion.

The Banshees of Inisherin is a masterpiece. Like all great works of art, the more you revisit this film - the more you roll the sleeves up & spend time in Martin McDonagh’s world with these unbelievable actors in this incredible landscape - the more you realize that this is one of the decade’s best films. I find McDonagh so interesting. His next film Wild Horse Nine hits theaters November 6th & while all eyes are on Denis & Nolan, McDonagh could rock the Oscar boat.

Look at the hysterical anti-AI comments in this thread from people who have never animated a day in their life. They claim AI "undercuts artists" and "steals from real animators." As a real animator who has been animating for 20 years, AI is simply the equivalent of getting a budget and a studio. Especially as one who has been blacklisted from the industry, AI is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. "Independent animators are the only artists who are expected to do the jobs of hundreds of people." Did Disney, Bakshi, or Judge stop being artists/animators because they got a studio, and didn't animate every single frame of their films by themselves? The answer from these commenters would be "ofcourse not." So why is it any different when a head animator uses AI to do all the laborious bitchwork instead of poorly paid Koreans? If a director ceases to be an artist because they use AI, then that means a director ceases to be an artist because they use a studio, and only the studio of poorly paid Koreans doing tedious repetitive bitchwork would be considered the Real Artists. Obviously, this is absurd logic. I still have seen no one refute this, and I would like to see some of the people in this thread try.

Al Pacino’s prime was obviously in the ‘70s but part of what makes his career so legendary is the “second prime” he went through in the ‘90s, which includes winning an Oscar & making films like Carlito’s Way, Heat, The Insider & here in The Devil’s Advocate, where Pacino is as explosive as ever. This is one of my favorite Pacino performances of all time & film everyone should see.

I mention that because Dafoe might get his Oscar moment this year with his new film - Late Fame - but the reality is that Dafoe doesn’t need an Oscar to validate his career. Take a film like Mississippi Burning, a film that earned Gene Hackman and Frances McDormand Oscar nominations, but not Dafoe. You can release 1,000 games on Roblox, but if they're all this low quality, none of them are going to succeed. Use AI for the programming all you want, but it won't save a game that's fundamentally bad. There are plenty of successful games that use AI as part of the development process, but they still have someone with a solid understanding of programming and game design guiding the AI toward a quality product. AI is a tool, not a replacement for good judgment or experience. If the game itself isn't fun, polished, or well designed, it simply isn't going to do well.

After analyzing more than 12,000 real-world AI use cases, researcher Marc Zao-Sanders found that people are increasingly turning to AI for practical help and entertainment, while some self-improvement uses—like organizing life, finding purpose, and healthier living—have fallen out of the top 10. One finding stood out: More than a quarter of the top use cases involve asking AI to do some of our thinking for us. Marc and his team call this "thinkslop": the lazy, sloppy thinking that can emerge when we rely on AI to form opinions, make decisions, or figure out what we think instead of doing that work ourselves.
