Yesterday, I spoke out against data centers and AI layoffs at the Seattle City Council. Under mass pressure, the City Council passed a one-year moratorium on new hyperscale data centers. This is a victory for working people, but one year is far from enough. My independent socialist campaign for Congress is the only one in this election fighting for an end to hyperscale data centers, for democratic public ownership of all existing data centers, and for a public-sector living wage jobs guarantee, funded by taxing the rich, to counter the AI-related mass layoffs. #datacenter #socialist #independent #ai #freepalestine

In space, you can keep a satellite in the sun 24 hours a day. The sun is 30% more intense, which results in six times more irradiance than on Earth. So you don't need a battery. The cooling in these data centers is incredibly complicated. Space cooling is free. You just put a radiator on the dark side of the satellite. The only thing faster than a laser going through a fiber optic cable is a laser going through absolute vacuum. Link satellites with lasers, and you have a faster and more coherent network than any data center on Earth."

"How did the Quebec wildfires start all at once?!" is a question we've been receiving quite a bit. We were curious too so we decided to review the data. Using GOES-16 satellite data for fire hotspots and by overlay lightning data, the answer becomes pretty clear. Of course, not all fires are caused by lightning.
