King goes on with some hopium about "innovation" fixing the issues with wind/solar energy storage, but Burgum brings a reality check: "Having been in tech for 30 years, batteries get better at about 2% a year. And that's what it's been for 30 or 40 years, and there's no breakthrough that's coming. Yes, it's improving, but it's not like the microchip which doubles in power [every two years]."

@DougBurgum Wind and solar are, in fact, intermittent. Any energy derived from wind and solar must be stored somewhere. And that place is in batteries Lithium-ion battery manufacturing pollutes through the extraction of raw materials, the manufacturing process, and the disposal of batteries

@DougBurgum I worked at a power plant that had a 5MW solar field. Any person, who would watch as the output of that field varied instantly from 5to0to5to3to0to5 MW due to variable cloud cover, and try to not call it "intermittent" would meet the technical defnitioni of insane. Ds are insane.

Solar and wind are sold as cheaper than coal, gas or nuclear using a number called LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy). But LCOE is a junk metric. It pretends that one-megawatt-hour of intermittent power is the same as one-megawatt-hour of reliable power. It isn't. When the sun doesn't shine or the wind doesn't blow, you still need electricity. So backup plants (coal, gas or nuclear) must run in the background, ready to fire instantly. LCOE fails to count that cost. It also ignores the miles of transmission lines for remote wind farms, the giant storage systems to cover lulls, the stabilizers to keep frequency steady, and the massive overbuild needed just to survive bad weather weeks.These hidden costs explode as wind and solar take over more of the grid. On paper, LCOE makes these renewables look cheap. In reality, they drive up costs system-wide. That's why nations with the most wind and solar have the highest electricity prices. LCOE isn't just misleading, it's a lie.

Intermittent Fasting is Bad for Women!? This person (don’t know her name) is claiming that women should avoid intermittent fasting because it spikes cortisol & disrupts your hormones Cool, except it’s based in absolutely ZERO science. In fact, research has shown that intermittent fasting does not negatively impact female hormones (PMID: 35684143) I also find this fear mongering around cortisol hilarious. You know what else increases cortisol? Exercise. I guess women should avoid that too? The reality is that short term rises in cortisol mean absolutely NOTHING for body composition & health. Acute changes in cortisol are fuel mobilization responses & completely NORMAL & NOTHING to be afraid of Intermittent fasting isn’t magic for weight loss but it is a useful tool to control calories if someone finds it easy to adhere to. You don’t have to worry about it messing up your hormones
