FSD slams on the brakes for a cat in the road that doesn’t even exist. This is FSD 12.6.4 on HW3, which is a lot more sensitive to shadows & objects in the road with the 2026.8.6 update. There are many reports of brake stabbing. It brings me back to the days when I was testing with v10.3 of FSD back in 2021. It’s interesting that it’s the same FSD version as before, and not something like 12.6.4.1, but I guess Tesla can change the weights without changing the version. And they’ve likely been doing this for a while with 12.6.4. 😒

One of the simplest things for humans, but incredibly complex for machines, is anticipating the unpredictability of children. Here FSD rolls up in direct sun, spots the kid way before I did, and applies the brakes. But what came after stunned me. Another bike, and another, then a gap, and another bike (and a bonus scooter). At no time did FSD attempt to jump the gap between the children (even when it could have). There was no jitter or indecision. FSD just patiently waited until they all came around the corner and crossed the street. It stayed perfectly still so as not to scare the children. Just like a human would. I’ve seen a lot of amazing things with FSD, but this one really impressed me on a deeper level. As a father, I’m happy knowing more people are using Tesla FSD to keep their own kids safe and to ensure the safety of the kids on the road.

I think as always it’s fair to talk about the good and the bad with each new version of FSD that comes out. It feels like FSD V14.2.2.4 is still struggling with speed control. I spent the majority of my drive tonight in standard and I found that on most straight stretches of road the car was going under the speed limit by a considerable amount (15kmh at times) Here’s a raw clip of the car driving between 60-67 kmh in a 70kmh zone with zero cars around it to slow it down. The road is well lit with traffic lights, so I don’t really see any reason at all to be driving this way. Let me know what you all think.

$TSLA 🇰🇷 BREAKING : I just experienced FSD (Supervised) for the first time in Korea. The vehicle is Model X and the FSD version is *V14.1.4. We have yet to see any official cases of V14 being applied outside of the United States and Canada. I've just completed my first FSD run for about an hour. (I've experienced about 10,000km of FSD in the U.S.) Except for the parking lot, there was never a case where I intervened during the FSD drive. The first impression of the FSD that works in Korea is that it is very amazing and a great achievement of the Tesla AI team. Although there was one case where I went off the road without following the navigation, the FSD thought to itself and drove on the right path. The overall experience in Korea was very good, such as turning left, turning right, U turn, joining lanes, and changing lanes. It's kind of like... an American driver driving in Korea on an international driver's license. If more data is generated in the future and the number of users increases, higher achievement of FSD in Korea is very much expected. I can't wait for more people to experience FSD in Korea! (Tesla Korea is a HW4 vehicle that purchased FSD and will update the FSD (Supervised) in the future for vehicles suitable for VIN number 5or7.

Forget UPL, it's the Devin's simple right hand turn that FSD needs to master first. I am blown away that software as good as FSD can make mistakes as simple but devastating as this. This is the second time in less than two weeks that FSD has tried to pull infront of a vehicle on a VERY SIMPLE right hand turn. The car drove pretty much flawlessly all day today (3~ hours of driving) but it ends the day with a move like this and it just takes all the confidence I have with FSD away in a simple move. I understand that the version of FSD we have today is not what will be used in Austin in June, but the fact that FSD is making decisions like this and 'full autonomy' is less than 3 months away - it's a bit concerning to me. I had one of those moments today that really showed me how much Tesla’s FSD has improved. We were heading to our next destination, and I turned on FSD in my Cybertruck. Instead of taking the obvious route out of the parking lot, it made a turn and drove straight into a parking garage. At that point, my significant other was yelling at me to disengage bc she didn’t want to waste time. Her argument was simple… FSD will probably get confused in a situation like this and we may end up going on an infinite loop FSD ride here. A parking garage is a pretty challenging environment if you think about it… multiple levels, ramps, tight turns, parked cars, limited visibility, and signs that can be easy to miss. But I told her I wanted to see what it would do. My thinking was that the latest version of FSD is much better at understanding their surroundings, reading signs, recognizing where they are, and making decisions based on what they see in real time. Sure enough, after realizing it wasn’t on the correct path, my Cybertruck kept moving, analyzed the situation, followed the garage layout, went all the way to the top floor, found the exit, and drove itself back out. Then it continued toward our destination without me touching the wheel. What impressed me wasn’t that it made a wrong turn… tbh human drivers do that all the time. What impressed me was that it recognized the situation, adapted, and successfully recovered on its own. Years ago, that probably would have been the end of the experiment bc it would go on an infinite loop, eventually resulting in a disengagement. Today, with FSD v14.3.4, it felt like watching the AI handle an unexpected problem and work its way through it. For me, that’s one of the biggest signs of progress in Tesla FSD, where it’s not 100% perfect, yet being able to make sense of a mistake, figuring out a solution, and moving forward.

The idea that Tesla is alone in the race to develop end-to-end vision system for self-driving and delivering into consumer vehicles is officially dead. Like dead, dead. I tested Xpeng's VLA 2.0 in the streets of Beijing, and it is comparable to my experience of daily driving Tesla FSD v14. Xpeng is not charging $100 a month to drive this. It is inlcuded in its higher-trim vehicles and it already caught the attention of Volkswagen, which is going to integrate into its own vehicles - something Tesla hasn't been able to do despite trying. I've been using FSD in my Tesla Model X for nearly a year. Here's the Good, the Bad and the Ugly on Tesla's FSD... The Good: - FSD is bar far, the most advanced driving technology I've ever experienced in any vehicle. - I use it every day, on every drive. Why? Because it reduces my driving work substantially. It keeps the car centered in the lane, keeps an appropriate following distance, stops for red lights and stop signs, turns where I need to turn and handles 99% of my driving tasks. - I think driving with FSD is FAR safer than driving without it because it reduces the "dumb" mistakes that drivers make that cause accidents. Mistakes like being distracted and missing the fact that the light is turning red or that the car in front of you just hit the breaks, or swerving out of your lane, or forgetting an exit or a turn and trying to make a heroic move to stay on course. All of these things are handled by FSD with grace and it likely is saving countless accidents. - Long drives and road trips are a pleasure with FSD because you are not fatigued with the many thousands of micro driving tasks, such as keeping the car centered in the lane or even worrying about where you're going. The car does all of that for you (and Navigate on Autopilot also does 95% of this for road trips). - When I use FSD, I have near-0 road rage, never speed up rapidly for no good reason and I am generally a more relaxed driver. The Bad: - Sometimes FSD has Schizophrenia, sees things that aren't there, slows for no reason, is indecisive on whether to go or stop which causes it to do extreme movements of the steering wheel, breaks and accelerator. In most of these circumstances, it's not unsafe, but as the driver sitting in the driver's seat, it is quite embarrassing, especially if you have passengers in the vehicle. - There are times when FSD makes a truly unsafe mistake, misses a red light (super rare) and tries to go when it should clearly stop, or slams on the break because it thinks a car might cross paths when the car was clearly not going to. In all these instances, it's super easy to take over and correct FSD's mistake. I don't even think twice about it...I quickly take over, correct the mistake, and put it back on FSD. The Ugly: - FSD is nearly useless in parking lots. It is surprisingly bad, especially since Elon Musk introduced the "Summon" feature long before FSD was released publicly. He said "just like humans, the AI also needs to learn driving by starting in the parking lot." 5 Years later, Summon still sucks and FSD has no idea how to drive in a parking lot. - Despite the many praises that a specific release often gets on Twitter, my personal experience has been that a new release could actually be worse than the previous version. For example, when my FSD upgraded from 10.69 to 11.3, it lost its ability to get in & out of HOV lanes on the freeway (I live in Scottsdale AZ). This simple loss of functionality (which returned with 11.4) caused numerous missed exits and route delays due to my over-reliance on FSD. - FSD makes some incredibly bad choices that are unexplainable, like certain lane changes, or last-second preparation to try and make a turn from 3 lanes away. These mistakes get better and worse with each release...it's a mixed bag as to what you're going to get with an update. - Your car's FSD never ever learns or improves by user input (not without an update). So it will make the exact same mistake in the exact same location, every, single, time. That can be super annoying. Conclusion: Despite the shortcomings, FSD is a technology marvel that I prefer not to live without. I don't see myself having a primary car that doesn't have Tesla-level FSD capabilities anytime in the future. Even the basic Autopilot features of Tesla are far superior to any other vehicle I've experienced. And despite what Elon says, the rate of improvement that I have experienced in the past year will not put it on a trajectory to be ready without a backup driver anytime in the next year or two. But with a backup driver, FSD is incredible, makes driving safer and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

This simple loss of functionality (which returned with 11.4) caused numerous missed exits and route delays due to my over-reliance on FSD. - FSD makes some incredibly bad choices that are unexplainable, like certain lane changes, or last-second preparation to try and make a turn from 3 lanes away. These mistakes get better and worse with each release...it's a mixed bag as to what you're going to get with an update. - Your car's FSD never ever learns or improves by user input (not without an update). So it will make the exact same mistake in the exact same location, every, single, time. That can be super annoying. Conclusion: Despite the shortcomings, FSD is a technology marvel that I prefer not to live without. I don't see myself having a primary car that doesn't have Tesla-level FSD capabilities anytime in the future. Even the basic Autopilot features of Tesla are far superior to any other vehicle I've experienced. And despite what Elon says, the rate of improvement that I have experienced in the past year will not put it on a trajectory to be ready without a backup driver anytime in the next year or two. But with a backup driver, FSD is incredible, makes driving safer and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

FSD V14.1.4 | 37 Minute Drive with the push of a button Everyday that I am out on the road I drive past all the other cars and I wonder how many of them realize what Tesla has accomplished already with FSD. Given that so many Tesla owners don't even know about FSD I have to assume the majority of other people on the road also do not know. I'm not sure what the answer is, but somehow the public needs to be made aware of what's happening here - at this point it's undeniably good and more people need to try it out and experience it for themselves. Who all is enjoying V14 so far?

If any other auto company shipped what Tesla just put in my Cyberbeast this morning, it would be a MAJOR launch event, like with a stage set up, a 40-minute presentation with people flying in around the world to see how amazing this technology is. Tesla on the other hand just sent it to my truck overnight with an over-the-air software update. I downloaded FSD (Supervised) v14.3.8 this morning and made Grok do all of this while my Cyberbeast drove itself. Watch the video, if you think I’m lying. I had Grok: 1/ add a destination 2/ add a second stop 3/ start FSD (just had to press a button) 4/ turn my AC to 68 5/ turn the seat coolers on medium 6/ then change the seat cooler to high 7/ play a song 8/ change to a different song 9/ open the glovebox (had to enter my pin) 10/ close the glovebox 11/ tell me the weather 12/ play Elon’s song 13/ change my destination to San Francisco mid-drive 14/ pick a Supercharger bc I was almost out of battery ALL with my hands and feet off the steering wheel and pedals… Here’s exactly how it went. I said hey Grok, take me to the Pruneridge Golf Club closest to me, then the Starbucks near there. It set both. I started FSD with a press of a button. Then I just kept talking to it. It was kind of hot in my Cybertruck, so I asked Grok to set the temperature to 68 and cool. Done. Then I said put the seat coolers on medium… it turned it on. Then I said change the seat coolers to high… it bumped it up. I said to play a song from Future… it put a song on Spotify that wasn’t what I was looking for. So I changed it. I said to play a song from Lil Baby. That was the one. Then I asked Grok to open my glovebox. It wouldn’t do it until I put my PIN in on the screen, which I actually respect for safety. I typed in my PIN… it opened it. Then I said close the glovebox… it closed. I asked what the weather was… it said it was sunny in Santa Clara, high 85, low 64. Then I said play Don’t Doubt ur Vibe, I think that’s Elon… it pulled up Don’t Doubt ur Vibe by Elon “EDM” Musk on Spotify. Halfway there I changed my mind on where I wanted to go. I said actually take me to San Francisco first and that I might have to stop at a Supercharger bc I’m almost out of battery. Grok looked at my truck sitting at 14% battery life with 38 miles of range. And knowing San Francisco is 39 miles away it found a Tesla supercharger for me to charge along the way. I said thanks Grok. A Tesla is starting to feel like an AI on wheels that can drive, listen, understand what I want, control the cabin, change my plans, and solve problems for me in real time… almost like another person is there with me, except that intelligence is embodied in the car itself. And the wildest part is I didn’t buy anything new! I went to sleep with one Cyberbeast and woke up with a more capable one. That’s why I think people still underestimate what happens when Tesla combines FSD, Grok, its vehicles, and over-the-air software into one system. That car sitting in your driveway doesn’t stay the same car. It keeps gaining new abilities. It keeps getting smarter. And often, you literally wake up to a major release that changes what the car can do. Any other automaker would have put this on a stage. Tesla shipped it while I was sleeping. Mind blown…

First drive done with FSD v12.6.4 on my AI3 Model 3 and it went great. Very similar behavior to Cybertruck actually. Zero disengagement, zero intervention drive on a very similar drive that I just did in CT. Went from Century City to the Santa Monica supercharger on the same route almost back to back with the two. They fixed the small issue with the turn signal coming on too early, as well as it now has earlier lane changes. Very similar to the Cybertruck drive I just did with v13.2.8. It even avoided a van that almost sideswiped me in a turn, smoothly and swiftly. AI3 is getting crazy good, such a smooth drive. You can really tell it wants to back into a parking spot, but can’t yet. It swings out and all you have to do is reverse into it. So far, really good update. Feels like a more polished v12.6.3 which was already very good. Great work Tesla AI team!
