Dynamic compaction is a ground improvement technique used to increase the density of loose granular soils, waste, and fills by repeatedly dropping a heavy weight from a significant height (10–40 meters) onto the ground surface.

The "Ranger Roll" is an emergency, tactical technique used to lift an unconscious, injured, or "dead-weight" casualty off the ground and onto a rescuer's back for transport to safety. It is designed to be a rapid, efficient method, often demonstrated by former US Army Rangers to enable a single person to move a casualty who may be heavier than them.

The technique is called solid injection for raising ground elevation, and it's not new in theory. Engineers have used compensation grouting to lift entire buildings, including Big Ben, by pumping material underneath them. The same physics that lifts a clock tower can lift a neighborhood. Terranova just roboticized it. The robot measures the surface to 2 millimeters and switches injection wells in real time as the ground shifts.

WE GOT DATA! Check out this first-ever 3-D data set of wind and thermodynamics from the ground up from inside a #tornado! With a peak wind of 131 mph measured above ground, and greater than 115 mph at ground level outside of suction vortices, it appears this tornado was at least an EF2. This data set sheds light on the 3-D structure of the dynamic pipe from ground through the vent, showing a high swirl ratio tornado here. The vent is the powerful updraft at the upper reaches of the dynamic pipe, the strength of which is proportional to the ceiling of the tornado cyclone below. We also computed a pressure perturbation with height, with two maximum deficits happening at launch and farther above ground in the dynamic pipe. Notice the little loop the parachute probe made at the backside of the #tornado at the same time as an RH decrease. We do not believe this is a subvortex here so far above ground. This video shows why tassels are required. By this I mean you hang string down from the top of the net to the ground with a little weight at the bottom, could be a knot or a piece of rubber, or a bead, or anything that just adds a tiny bit of weight. Adding tassels every 20-50 meters makes this flying down the tunnel completely impossible.
