#E20 fuel does not cause a drastic drop in vehicle mileage as often claimed on social media. The actual impact is minimal—an average vehicle delivering 20 kmpl may see a difference of just 0.6 kmpl after switching to E20. Factors like tyre pressure, traffic conditions, and driving habits often... show more

Please share the research where it says 5% drop in mileage. I drive Baleno 2019. So show me the research around Maruti Suzuki cars. I have proof of 32% mileage drop in just 6 to 8months after adopting E20

Please release these scientific test reports to shut everyone's mouth. Hiding the reports gives more doubts on E20. Just Curious, Does Driving Habit, Traffic Conditions ,Tyre Pressure change with the Change in Fuel Type ? How it's related to Drop in Mileage ?

Let's talk science 6% decrease = 1.2 Kmpl

Share details of testing. Put it in public domain. Let me see which vehicle was tested, and under what conditions. My motorcycle has significant drop in mileage. I am seeing it 1st hand, price me wrong and make the report public.

Jisne bhi yeh video banaya hai, use pehle theek se knowledge do. Important Point: E20 se mileage drop hoga, okay, yeh mana aapne, but aapne kaha ki traffic, tyre PSI, aur other factors bhi hain, okay. Mai kuch aur bhi add kar deta hoon jaise vehicle servicing, driving skills, road condition, etc. Ab mudde pe baat karte hain, yeh saare issues pehle bhi the aur gaadi chalti thi or average bhi de rahi thi, but ab nahi chalti, kyu? Pure scenario mein change kya hua? Petrol/E05/E10 ki jagah E20, right? Aam aadmi gaadi mehnat se leta hai aur iska dhyaan rakhna sarkar ka kaam hai. Agar yeh policy aam aadmi ko fayda de hi nahi rahi, toh kisko fayda de rahi hai aur kyu lagu karna hai phir isko?

When i buy power 100 for my Tiguan, city mileage is 13 and when i buy E20, mileage is 9.5.

MI&B SM Team, You must specify which vehicles you are talking about. #E20 compliant vehicles or E0 or E10 vehicles. If you don't, you end up misleading your readers. Satyamev Jayate. Jai Hind. ⛽ Mileage drop from switching to E20 is typically larger in E0-compliant (or older pure-petrol) and E10-compliant vehicles than in E20-compliant ones. ⛽ Real-world tests (Autocar India)**: Older BS4 cars (pre-E20 era) lost 5–12% (e.g., older Dzire –12.4%, Grand i10 –9.2%). Newer E20-compliant equivalents of the same model lost only ~3.8%. ⛽ Why the difference? Ethanol has 30–35% lower energy density than petrol. E20 therefore contains roughly 6–7% less energy than pure petrol (E0) and 3–3.5% less than E10. Modern E20-compliant engines compensate better because they have higher compression ratios, oxygen-sensor adaptive ECUs, and maps that exploit ethanol’s higher octane and oxygen content. Older E0/E10 engines cannot fully retune, so they run less efficiently and lose more of the theoretical energy difference. ⛽ Your post states that E20 “does not cause a drastic drop” and that a 20 kmpl car sees only a 0.6 kmpl difference, while other factors (tyre pressure, traffic, driving habits) matter more. This is partially true but selective: ⛽ The 0.6 kmpl figure is narrow and idealized. It comes directly from Maruti Suzuki’s Rahul Bharti and is simply 3–3.5% of 20 kmpl—the calorific-value difference between E20 and E10, not versus pure petrol. It assumes a well-optimized modern vehicle under controlled conditions. It does not represent the higher losses measured in the majority older fleet (still hundreds of millions of vehicles) or real-world tests showing 5–12%. ⛽ “Minimal” is relative and contested. A permanent 3–7% (or higher) systematic loss is not trivial for cost-sensitive Indian owners. Over a year of typical driving it adds noticeable fuel cost. Independent surveys of pre-2023 owners report far larger perceived drops (often >10%), and real-world magazine tests exceed the lower end of official ranges. Your post correctly notes that driving style and maintenance can vary mileage by larger amounts on any given day, but those are controllable variables. The #ethanol penalty is structural and applies every kilometre for every driver once the fuel is mandated nationwide. ⛽ Energy-density physics cannot be wished away. Pure ethanol has 21 MJ/L versus 32 MJ/L for petrol. Blending 20% therefore reduces energy content by a predictable percentage. Engine calibration can recover some of that loss (via better combustion), but not all of it—especially in non-E20 hardware. Dismissing all efficiency concerns as “drastic” exaggeration ignores the government’s own 1–7% band and higher independent measurements. ⛽ No consumer choice amplifies the issue. India moved the entire petrol supply to E20 without parallel E0/E10 options at most pumps. Owners of older cars therefore face the larger efficiency hit with no opt-out, while the post frames the impact as uniformly minimal. #MeriGaadiMeraAdhikaar #GaadiMarchGandhiMarch #E20KoE20_E10KoE10_Andolan @OGTeamBharat @tehseenp @nachiket1982 @Shankyram2 @ShivAroor @IndiaTodayFacts @karamprakash6 @TeamBHPforum Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, E10 vaahan mein E20 daala toh Khush ho jayega Kabadi

Take this ratio. We don’t want Ethanol in our petrol.

Credibility is what makes anyone listen to anyone. This regime has no credibility left, they are a bunch of liers and knowledge it all attitude imbeciles. P.s. don't listen to them because they have no credibility left. Every inch of this regime is built on lies and more lies.

You need to change your nomenclature to Ministry Of Misinformation & Broadcasting , the same That suits you better. We will raise the issue and recommend the change.

You are so stubborn people. Why not you make pure petrol available to consumer, why you people force to buy adultrated petrol for vehicle which is not e10 or e20 compatible. Don't understand common people owl, people who made your government can through u in dustbin. Only for 1 minister benefit u are running the country. Can u tell the country what is cost of production of petrol and ethanol per litter.

@MIB_India - Chal jhute, my car used to give milage of 16.4 on highway on speed of 100kmpl in cruise but now after e20 dropped to 13-13.5, its a 2.5kmpl milage drop on speed of 100 in cruise

U want to tell people that after e20 people are driving wrongly, keeping tyre pressure wrongly, and only you people are smart. Disgusting.

Unfortunately, such arrogance will not work for the Central Government. Everyone can see a significant drop in mileage. These are not one off cases. Why can't we get a choice of what to put in our cars?

We are driving the vehicles and complaining to you that our vehicles have lost its thrust, power, pickup, mileage & in my case the car company mechanic is saying its because of contaminated Petrol ie clearly Ethanol blending and you are not ready to believe it. Instead govt machinery is busy suppressing vehicle owners via all evil means. Pure petrol is being now sold at 170/litre! under what weird calculations does our Ministers think that per capita income and affordability of Indians have grown to that level? #EthanolBlending #E20 #GovtLootingCarOwners #PetrolPricesLootIndia

Totally agreed!! 0.6 km but for every km..that means we are seeing 50% of actual mileage

Mileage drops drastically and the drive is even jerky!!! Especially cars that are non-E20 compliant!! It’s even printed in the @Maruti_Corp owner manual. Why be in denial?? @PetroleumMin @MORTHIndia

Wouldn’t it impact huge if 0.6 kmpl decrease happens for crores of cars in country? It’s roughly 60 lakh kms mileage decrease, wouldn’t it incur more fuel consumption? (count is for just 1 crore cars)

Who gave permission to destroy our car's mileage? For Indian buyers, mileage is the biggest concern when deciding on a vehicle. We pay advance tax on vehicles, then road tax, cess, and all. Is the government ready to pay the extra fuel price that I need per km my car drives less?

Not in real world situation, my Honda brio is giving 7 km/litre. 7 km travel in 20 minutes in city, that is not any big traffic. Regularly serviced vehicle, all other parameters are perfect.

Don’t distort facts. E20 can have fuel efficient impact of ~6% with E10 and the difference can be more than 10% w.r.t pure petrol. Government has hidden these facts and running propaganda. Stop spreading narratives on social media and face public.

Don't fool the people, we know the truth. This is the time you ( BJP=Modi) should stop spreading fake PR to defend your ethanol blending decision. Did you asked any average Indian about ethanol blending prior to take decision, if your answer is No then this is the time to step aside your arrogance and take a wise decision. You fooled us about oil bonds repayment which was 1.41 lakh crore, this is already over and now the money you took from should be returned to common people. We are not going to fund your freebies like ladli behna like schemes to build your empire. Reduce the fuel price and bring it under GST, since out of 28 states 20 are ruled by NDA as direct government or in coalition. Or next time BJP= NDA will collapse to 100 seats.

But the price we are paying for e20 is equal to normal petrol which is available at same price ...in other countries 1ltr petrol is available at average of 100 and we are paying 110 for e20 it doesn't make sense...e20 is acceptable if it is available at 70rs

Hard to agree. I have been driving my E10 car the same way I did before, maintaining the car the same way, driving the same route as before, yet there has been a minimum of 2km/l drop in mileage.

All the factors applied to the same car with E10 petrol results in better mileage. Are you saying with E20 we stopped checking our tyre pressures or traffic conditions changed and driver drove differently. Who are you fooling?

Ah, I don't know for how long you guys plan on lying, but you are guys are a bunch of pigs with 0 IQ. Why don't you come to my place and drive my car and analyze the metrics ?

Any resemblance to real life comparisons is purely coincidental

How come the same drivers, same road conditions, and same traffic conditions cause mileage to drop from 715 km per tank to 450-500 km per tank? Are you saying that petrol pumps are selling adulterated oil?

You are misleading. My bike mileage reduced to 30% due to E20. And I always maintained my bike like timely service, Tyre pressure and all other things. And I drive my bike very very smoothly. Please give pure Petrol at correct price

Idiots, dont peddle misinformation... People are facing the issues and paying the price for someone's ego and self business. Same car, same traffic, same driver, my city mileage dropped from 15/16 to 11/12. You too also have faced the same. Dont peddle the lies , stand for self

@MIB_India So the blame for falling mileage falls entirely on citizens for not checking tyre pressure and ignoring traffic conditions? What about road conditions? You left that out, likely because it leads straight to government accountability. That’s not just selective reasoning

Your own @NITIAayog 2021 report clearly admitted that E20 fuel causes a 6–7% drop in fuel efficiency and explicitly recommended REDUCING retail prices to compensate consumers! 🛑 Blaming "tyre pressure" and "driving habits" while gaslighting millions of daily commuters reporting real-world tank-to-tank drops is unacceptable. If the impact is so "minimal," why are taxpayers paying 100% pure petrol prices for a diluted blend with ZERO option for pure petrol (E0) at pumps? Stop labeling actual consumer feedback as "misinformation"! @MIB_India @PetroleumMin 😡 #E20Petrol #ConsumerRights #NITIAayog #PetrolPrice #MIBIndia #HardeepSinghPuri

Where is your research? My car's mileage dropped from 10-11kmpl in city to 5-6 kmpl now. In highways it dropped from 19-20 kmpl to 12-14 kmpl. My driving style remains same with car undergoing periodic maintainance. Agree to the fact that E20 has drastic mileage drop.

You are absolutely wrong , as a vehicle owner i can tell you its between 25%-30%. you can run your campaign but its far away from truth. further even if its 5-10% who gave you this right to play with our average ?? why sucking blood of Honest #taxpayers only ??

No , it's really dropped , I am using it since last 6 months average dropped to 30% less. I have refuel frequently for same distance. Government must understand this. I think upto E10 it didn't effected but E20 is really affecting average. Also fuel is very costly
