Elon Musk on WHY SpaceXSI acquired Cursor: “In order to create a compelling SI, you need a LOT of training data and need to SOLVE CODING. As far as I can tell, three organizations that had enough coding training data: OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor (and, arguably perhaps Google) but you... show more

surprised GitHub doesn't have a top coding model

“SpaceXSI” “SI”

SpaceXSI This is a horrible name. ⛔️

Cursor had the most immaculate vibes of all the organizations he mentioned, and even if he wasn't looking for that, I like to think it helped

Elon acquiring Cursor was like taking the other players queen off the board. Just a matter of time before checkmate on the SI race.

Amongst our weaponry... are such elements as fear, surprise...

best merger ever

SI" is doing so much heavy lifting here lmao. the real moat was always sales not the tech. cursed but true

i don't buy that data is what solves coding. i think an agent running code and watching it fail teaches more than years of saved edits, and anyone can generate that themselves

Good choice

Buying the editor to avoid building a better one

obviously privacy for coding is gone. Choose your right agent.

wouldn’t cursor fall in the same bucket as cognition?

Makes sense, data, talent and compute are indeed the three core pillars for AI.

SpaceXSI sounds like an inter planetary sexually transmitted disease. 🚀 The interplanetary STI no one asked for.

that's not the reason he acquired them he wanted a codex/claude code/anti gravity alternative from his side xAI is clearly too behind in the race in terms of development cursor was the obvious choice

The all-knowing machine still needs someone who knows a guy.

A rocket company now owns the coding editor. SpaceX paid $60B in stock, and Grok 4.5 shipped in July already trained alongside Cursor, before the deal closed. Data first, paperwork later.

cursor data distribution is unmatched honestly

原来每天跟 Cursor 来回改代码,也算给它上课了

But dilute my space X shares to the tune of $60B? No no. I disagree. $1B I can understand and will go along with but not 60X that.

it obviously didn't help much because grok is bad, i'll stick with ai and models that don't suck

Training data is the lumber, compute is the sawmill, and talent turns both into a usable product. Enterprise relationships are the route to the job site.

Cursor's access to coding training data could really speed up AI development

This is informative, where can I get the full video?

The data advantage is the key point.

He made a good decision. Cursor worked well and Grok needed it.

New word salad, nothing make sense. Same old piece of shit

Cursor

yeah data is the moat, everything else is downstream

in other words coding data is the moat and only three companies had enough of it. cursor was just the one that picked up the phone

they trained on my typos

Traces beat raw code. What you want is real agent sessions with the outcome attached, like tests passing or the edit getting reverted. That's your feedback signal.

美国怎么选了这么一个傻逼总统?把 AI 改成 SI。/ˌeɪˈaɪ/ VS /ˌɛsˈaɪ/哪个发音更顺畅、更方便?
