One of the rules he implemented for his staff was to leave the office and be home for dinner and protect that time. But he also admits the difficulty he had following his own rule. He’d stay late, carry the day with him, and walk into his house still in coach mode. So he created a simple transition routine (e.g. a walk with his dogs) to decompress and detach from the job before he spent time with his family. The goal isn’t simply to perform at a high level at work.
