Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins: $700M for Regenerative Agriculture “Today is about the next step in making America healthy again… and that is talking about regenerative agriculture.” “Regenerative agriculture is a conservation management approach that emphasizes natural resources through improved soil health, water management, and natural vitality for the productivity and prosperity of American agriculture and all of our communities.” “Today we are launching a new farmer first regenerative agriculture pilot program, which will invest $700 million specifically to support regenerative agriculture.” “Protecting and improving the health of our soil is critical not only for the future viability of farmland, but to the future success of American farmers. In order to continue to be the most productive and most efficient growers in the world, we must protect our top soil, from unnecessary erosion and boost the microbiome of the soil.” “Today's announcement encourages these priorities while supporting farmers to transition to regenerative agriculture if they so choose. This is a farmer's first pilot program and the first of its kind.” “This initiative puts American farmers first as part of the solution to make America healthy again, and by supporting and by supporting access to American grown whole foods that are critical to addressing the chronic disease crisis nationwide.” “This new pilot is about results that last. It will make our farms more productive, our land healthier, and our water cleaner.”

Empowering Farmers Through Sustainable Livelihood, Enriching Youth Through Education! Performed the Bhoomipujan and laid the Foundation Stone of the College of Fisheries Science and inaugurated the completed works under the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Amravati today. Maharashtra now has its fourth Fisheries Science College, and West Vidarbha its first, a step that opens new doors of opportunity for farmers and youth. While many believe fishing is limited to coastal areas, nearly 40% of India’s fish production actually comes from freshwater. States like Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have made great strides in this sector. In Maharashtra too, farmers are increasingly turning to fish farming through farm ponds, gaining both income and resilience. Traditional fishing communities, who have sustained this practice for generations, must now be connected to modern techniques, training, and better markets. Our Government is working with this aim to turn tradition into sustainable livelihood. Under the vision of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji’s Blue Revolution, pisciculture has been granted agriculture status making it eligible for crop loans, Kisan Credit Cards and priority sector benefits. Many countries have built strong economies through fisheries. With the natural wealth of rivers, lakes, and coastline, Maharashtra is ready to move ahead. The new college at Morshi will guide this progress through focused research, education and structured support. In Amravati district, every hailstorm affected farmer will receive full assistance from the Government. Every decision being taken reflects one goal, to build a stronger, more self-reliant Maharashtra where farmers are secure, empowered and never left behind. Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister Nitesh Rane, MP Dr. Anil Bonde, MLA Umesh Yawalkar, MLA Rajesh Wankhede, MLA Pravin Tayade, MLA Pratap Adsad, MLA Kevalram Kale, MLA Chainsukh Sancheti, MLA Anuradhatai Chavan, Dr. Niteen Patil (Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur) and other dignitaries were present. Group Farming & Climate-Resilient Agriculture: The Future of Maharashtra! 🌱 Delighted to be a part of 'Satyamev Jayate Farmer Cup Awards 2024 Ceremony' in Balewadi, Pune with Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, thousands of farmers & champions across Maharashtra and team Paani Foundation. For many years, I have been closely observing the incredible initiatives of Paani Foundation. Aamir Khan, known for his perfectionism, initially started Paani Foundation in just 3 talukas, then expanded to 30, then 75, and today, the announcement for its implementation across the entire Maharashtra fills me with immense happiness and pride. Since 2015, Maharashtra has witnessed a Water Janandolan (people’s movement) through the Jalyukt Shivar initiative. During this, Aamir Khan and the Paani Foundation team stepped forward and volunteered. The initial planning and structures for various villages were developed, enabling 20,000 villages across Maharashtra to become self-reliant in tackling water scarcity. This Farmer Cup as the next step has greatly supported the group farming movement. Today, various farmer groups are actively working, and a new policy for group farming will be introduced. Additionally, the necessary assistance and support required for these groups will be provided. The Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjeevani Yojana, launched in collaboration with the World Bank, focuses on climate-resilient agriculture. The first phase, with an investment of ₹4,000 crore, was highly impactful, prompting the World Bank to approve ₹6,000 crore for the second phase. This phase has significantly improved and transformed farming practices. Additionally, villages that were initially not part of the scheme are now requesting inclusion, proving that this initiative has been immensely beneficial for farmers. The goal is to attract investment in farming, as capital expenditure will empower farmers and enhance their capabilities. Group farming will further benefit them by reducing costs and increasing production. Additionally, drip irrigation will be provided to farmers who request it, ensuring sustainable and efficient water use. Minister Manikrao Kokate, Founder of Bhartiya Jain Sangathan Shantilal ji Mutha, and other dignitaries were present too. Today, Governor Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON launched the AgriConnect Initiative — a groundbreaking program designed to revolutionize the agricultural landscape of Ogun State. Using Artificial Intelligence by Huawei technologies, this phone (first ever in Nigeria) will form an integral part of the ecosystem that would inform farmers on rain patterns, when to plant, and serve as channels to request assistance for agronomy services. The phones comes installed with navigation access, and an app that enables farmers to communicate back and forth with Ogun State’s 24/7 data centers, which they can use to inform the government in real time of whatever issues they are facing, such as security, pests etc. These are not just gadgets; they are tools of transformation — designed to boost productivity, promote efficiency, and fortify the cassava value chain. Through this programme, 1,000 cassava farmers — randomly selected from the Ogun State Farmers Information Management System (OGFIMS), (the first of its kind and only one in Nigeria-which currently hosts a database of over 160,000 farmers — will be supported with mobile-data enabled devices and access to digital technologies provided by Huawei, with mobile data provided by the MTN foundation. The initiative is facilitated by the Hon Minister of Communications Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Dr. 'Bosun Tijani. It is worth noting that Ogun State plays a leading role in cassava production in Nigeria, contributing approximately 14% to the national output of 62.8 million metric tonnes. This comparative advantage aligns perfectly with the One State, One Product (OSOP) initiative championed by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), and we are proud to be leading this charge. With real-time access to information, market intelligence, climate-smart practices, and financial inclusion tools, Ogun State is creating the conditions for better outcomes and elevated livelihoods. This Initiative is poised to harness this potential by establishing a robust platform that connects farmers to vital resources, modern technologies, and accessible markets.

#WATCH | In a video, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi says, "...Narendra Modi has sold out the country, sold out the farmers. You can file a case against me, abuse me and do whatever you have to. Bring a Privilege Motion against me. It doesn't matter. I have spoken the truth in Parliament. It is a different matter if you do not like it. The country can understand the truth. You can do whatever you want, I stand with farmers. I will not step back even an inch. Congress president Kharge ji, the entire Congress party, and I stand with farmers. We will not let this injustice take place." "Yesterday, I said that the farmers are the foundation of India. Congress and the whole of India had fought for food security. Narendra Modi ji has deceived our farmers, our food security. By striking a deal with the US, he has sold out cotton farmers, soya farmers, apple farmers and fruit farmers. For years, people from foreign countries have been trying to capture the agri-market of India. Narendra Modi ji has opened the gates for them. This is a truth that he and I both know. Why did he do that? Because there is a chokehold around his neck. Donald Trump has the reins of Narendra Modi in his hands. Maize, cotton, soybean and fruits are just the beginning, Narendra Modi will open the gates to the entire agri-market, for his friends, for people like Adani and Ambani, for external forces. Indian farmers and the entire country know that Narendra Modi is anti-farmers. He helps his friends...American farmers have thousands of acres of farms, they are mechanised, they are given govt subsidies. Our farmers have small farms, they do not get the proper MSP and there is nothing like mechanisation. Narendra Modi has sold out the country, sold out the farmers. Congress president Kharge ji, I and the entire Congress party stand with farmers. We will not let this injustice take place." (Video: Rahul Gandhi/X)
