#VCFD along with our partners at Ventura City Fire, Oxnard Fire and Santa Paula PD responded to a working structure fire in Santa Paula this morning. Arriving crews were met with heavy smoke and flames showing from the residence with reports of a victim trapped. FFs conducted a rapid and aggressive primary search to locate the victim who was ultimately discovered to have escaped on her own. 2 patients were treated for minor injuries and transported to an area hospital. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

#uwcnf #BuckBasinFire on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District grew to approximately 230 acres yesterday. Fire is burning in heavy dead standing fuels in mixed conifer and aspen stands. Resources made some good progess on building an initial anchor point to build off of for future shifts. Air support helped with bucket drops until weather picked up and were unable to continue in the afternoon. The fire is located in Buck Basin 4 to 5 miles northwest of the Currant Creek Reservoir. Red Creek Mountain Road FS080 and Low Pass Road FS106 are closed to the public at this time. Resources on scene: two engines, two Type 2 crews, two Type 1 helicopters, scoopers, water tender and a grader will be assisting the operations today. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. Crews were in the area today working on the northern section of the fire. At this time, there are no reported threats to structures or communities. Smoke is visible from Highway 35 and 40 and surrounding area please do not report.

At 9:52 a.m. Saturday, the FDNY received a report of a fire at 132-17 41st Road in Queens. Upon arrival, units encountered two buildings fully involved in fire with extension to a third building. "Our engine companies moved in with multiple handlines in all of these buildings—very aggressively, very deliberately," Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods said. "Many lives are saved by the proper positioning of hoselines." With a report of people trapped, members from Rescue 4 got above the fire on the second floor of the main fire building and rescued an occupant. They made the rescue under high heat and in zero visibility without the protection of a hoseline. There was a total of 21 injuries—17 firefighters and two EMS members suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Two civilians were also injured and transported to area hospitals. More than 250 firefighters and EMS members responded to the 5-alarm fire, which was placed under control at 1:47 p.m. The cause remains under investigation.

Fan Allen caught the crash of Florian Lipowitz on video… unfortunately, he had to abandon, although he also looked really good in the TT. Apart from that, Remco still looks very good, and he has a very big gap on 3rd place. Del Toro rode a very good TT and lost just a few seconds to Seixas, and the surprise of the day was Skjelmose, who now targets the top 5 overall. These two women were visiting the fire department in NYC and wanted a tour. The firefighters were gracious for the public outreach and obliged. The women tried on some of the pieces of the uniform and then danced and had fun while touring the fire station and checking out the fire trucks. People who saw the video were outraged and claim that this is inappropriate and that they should not have been allowed to do this. Do you see anything inappropriate with what they did?
