GSTAR: Gaussian Surface Tracking and Reconstruction Contributions: • A new framework for tracking and reconstructing dynamic scenes, combining 3D Gaussians and meshes to effectively manage changes in topology. • A method for Gaussian unbinding and surface re-meshing, allowing for the generation of new surfaces as topologies evolve. • A method for handling large or fast deformations of surfaces between frames using scene flow warping. Abstract (excerpt): However, tracking dynamic surfaces with 3D Gaussians remains challenging due to complex topology changes, such as surfaces appearing, disappearing, or splitting. To address these challenges, we propose GSTAR, a novel method that achieves photo-realistic rendering, accurate surface reconstruction, and reliable 3D tracking for general dynamic scenes with changing topology. Given multi-view captures as input, GSTAR binds Gaussians to mesh faces to represent dynamic objects. For surfaces with consistent topology, GSTAR maintains the mesh topology and tracks the meshes using Gaussians.

Here’s a proof of concept showing how data calculated in Python can be used in Blender. #Blender can process the received data with custom geometry nodes, custom shaders and full 3D interactivity. This minimal example uses @networkX in Project Jupyter. Learn more in this thread🧵

👀 Ever see a 3D sci-fi energy shield like this? Realtime, interactive (per-tile), procedurally animated, and has layers of shaders with particle effects - I wanted to make something unique and "technically advanced", but also modular for performance scaling. It's straightforward to address individual tiles and hook in your own effects and calls with custom events. I'll be posting this very soon (for Unity URP).

A hexagonal ring of squares doesn’t just look pretty— it folds into a perfect cube. This graceful transformation reveals the power of topology: how flat surfaces become strong 3D forms through clever alignment and folding.

Kling 2.6 prompt: Hyperspeed FPV abastract void Propmt: An abstract void where space fractures into pure energy and geometry, floating light shards and distorted grids replacing solid matter. The Hyperspeed FPV camera accelerates instantly, slicing through glowing dimensional rifts made of light, color, and particles rather than physical worlds. Reality bends into waves, tunnel-like portals pulse rhythmically, shapes stretch and collapse as the camera pierces through three abstract dimensions in one continuous motion. Extreme speed ramps, intense motion blur, chromatic aberration, and light streaks dominate the frame. Deep synthetic whooshes, low-frequency impacts, and an evolving epic electronic score create a sense of cosmic scale and unstoppable momentum. Minimal, surreal, mythic, high-contrast abstract cinematic style

4️⃣ Use interactive visualizations for visual learning With interactive visualizations, Gemini can generate functional 3D simulations to help you better understand the topic you’re studying. For example, ask Gemini about a topic that could be explained visually, like “show me how DNA works in 3D,” and you’ll be able to interactively rotate and zoom into a 3D DNA structure.
