Finally got to build this. Create animations that use Core Animation on iOS and Animator on Android with zero JS overhead. Same animation. But one keeps running smoothly even when the UI thread is lagging. Introducing react-native-ease 🍃

Android vs. iOS app quality difference [Part 8] This one is about two highly-requested media apps: Spotify and Netflix. Netflix is miles better on iOS, but Spotify is about the same in my opinion because each version has one extra feature that's absent on the other. Netflix: - Netflix on iOS has a very modern design. Cool animations while logging in, and 3D parallax effect on the main title shown on the homepage. Nothing like this on the Android version. - You can use gestures to navigate the titles as shown in the video, and it's coupled with cool animations. Absent on the Android app. Spotify: - On the iOS app, you can use swipe up/down gestures to navigate between the mini-player and main music player UI. Can't do that on Android. - However, on the Android app, you can like a song directly from the notification panel - which is very useful. You can add a song you like to your Liked playlist directly without having to open the app. I believe this is on Apple alone, since they don't allow adding shortcuts like that to media player. Which app would you like me to do next? Let me know below!

In their OxygenOS 16 keynote, OnePlus rigged the animation test against One UI. Shameful. They intentionally used navigation buttons, then entered a full screen app where the buttons got hidden, then kept pressing on an empty spot — and pretended that it’s lagging. 💀 One UI 8 is peak Android experience right now. It’s the most stable mobile software out there. Doing cheap stunts like this ain’t changing nobody’s mind.

In One UI 8 ZYF1, a major animation bug is finally gone. When the app-opening animation was in progress, users could not perform any operations on the screen, such as going back. Bone Tide is officially out on the App Store and Google Play 🎉 The React Native Expo version runs on the exact same TypeGPU engine as the Web game, shared 1:1 between both platforms. Only the UI was ported to React This was made possible by some amazing work across the React Native open source ecosystem. One UI, including One UI 8.5, has a long-standing issue with the back gesture: lag. My finger moves, but the animation lags and doesn't follow the finger's response. This puts it behind all other OSes. Comparing One UI 8.5 with vivo's OriginOS5 and OriginOS6 reveals that Samsung's gesture response is the slowest, and I haven't been able to resolve the issue with Home Up. Samsung needs to optimize this. Another problem is that the icons in Samsung's animation are too ugly when they are shrunk. The icons are forcibly stretched to cover the page. Samsung borrowed this from OriginOS 5 at the time, but vivo fixed the problem in OriginOS6, and Samsung One UI 8.5 still has no improvement.

Scroll-triggered animations are coming to Chrome early next year (and we've been really excited about this one for a bit!) 🥳 Unlike scroll-driven animations (already in Chrome & Safari), this API introduces "timeline-trigger" and "animation-trigger" to start an animation within a specific range, rather than relying on the scroller completion *as* the animation timeline. I got nerd-sniped and wanted to try it out so I built this shape morphing demo to show how you can apply multiple animations to the same element over with different triggers. PRETTY COOL IMO! If typing fast in your app feels like wading through mud, you need useNativeState. Every TextField in RN has felt slightly off for years; Expo UI just shipped the fix with the new useNativeState hook. Instead of trying to keep the native input and react state in sync on each keystroke, useNativeState handles the state completely on the native side. React (JS thread) only reads the value when it needs it e.g. onSubmit, using a lightweight reference. Make your app faster, read the full blog ↓

Heyo exciting news! Just released my react-native-godot library to the world! Available on npm, just `yarn add react-native-godot` and you’re (almost) good to go :) Basically, you can embed any Godot projects on iOS (Android coming soon) into your React Native app, It supports multiple Godot views at the same time, full styling (you get flex box multiple Godot views and update their layout dynamically) Still pretty early but I think it’s already enough to hack around with it. I don’t get why devs discriminate even in little things like this. - On WhatsApp for iOS, you can swipe left on a message to quickly see delivered, read, and voice message heard status. Very useful in group chats. - On WhatsApp for Android you have to tap and hold the message, select 3-dots, then select Info to see the same thing. I get it when devs can’t put iOS’s design language or animation quality in their Android apps, but things like these should be pretty easy to implement. Maybe it’s because they thought this gesture might interfere with Android’s back gesture, but I believe there’s a clear distinction between swiping from the edge and swiping in the middle of a message.

Here are the steps to create this animation: 1. Design and model your own mech in Plasticity. 2. Import the model into the animation software 3ds Max. 3. Create the animation on your own. 4. Render and export the monochrome model animation. 5. Make the final render for reference. 6. Use Seedance 2 to re-render your monochrome model animation according to the reference render you provided. Summary: In this workflow, Seedance 2 acts as a renderer that saves you hours of rendering time. All other work has to be done manually by yourself. Don’t blindly believe that AI can fully produce mech animations for you — it simply cannot do that.

You only need Sapling Tree Gen to make this, no fancy addons needed. BTW, In 5.x this amazing extension is bugged and cannot create animation, i guess it doesn't work with the new animation system. Come on I need this Blender 🔶 !!! (Actually you can create it with animation in 4.x, then copy paste it into 5.x. But that's lame)
