Galaxies merging 🌌 A supercomputer simulation shows many galaxies merging over time. The parts of galaxies we can see are glowing stars forming from gas in their central parts. Visualizations like these inform researchers on a galaxy’s evolution and how gas within one may form.

Hi, I'm curious about some data of this simulation. What is the time-frame of this simulation? 100 million years? How big is the formed galaxy in this simulation? Something the size of our Milky way (100,000 lightyears)? What are the velocities we can observe in the animation? How much (processor) time did it take to calculate this evolution?

Where knowledge synthesis becomes a co-creative journey toward a deeper, more unified understanding of our world.

How do we know this if we need an unknown dark matter to explain galactic rotation curves?

Why is this relevant?

The dance of the cosmos – infinity merging into a new beginning.

I prefer the view where millions of seconds unfold per second—it’s mesmerizing and beautiful!
