This is one of the worst stretches in Bengaluru, and unfortunately, this is not the first time it has been waterlogged. Year after year, every time heavy rain hits the city, this underpass turns into a lake, causing severe inconvenience to commuters, damaging vehicles, and putting lives at risk. Despite repeated incidents and countless complaints from citizens, nothing seems to have changed. The most frustrating part is that this problem is entirely predictable. Authorities know exactly what happens here during every monsoon, yet there appears to be no permanent solution or effective drainage system in place. Instead, residents and daily commuters are forced to suffer the same ordeal repeatedly while promises of infrastructure improvements remain on paper. Citizens pay taxes expecting better roads, proper stormwater management, and safe public infrastructure. However, situations like this raise serious questions about planning, accountability, and maintenance. How many more years will people have to endure the same issue before meaningful action is taken? A city aspiring to be a global technology hub cannot afford to have critical roads and underpasses flooded after every spell of rain. This is for every common man & family using footpaths on a daily basis. Please act against every institution that is encroaching the footpaths. Private builders are the biggest nuisance. They don't just occupy footpaths but their construction materials overflow from the footpaths onto the road. This is 17th Main Road in HSR. Hosa Road, after Nandhini Junction towards Electronic City in Bengaluru, has been in the same deteriorated condition for the past year. The road is riddled with massive potholes, and calling them potholes would be an understatement. These are more like craters you’d expect to find on the surface of the moon, not on a major road in one of India's largest cities. Despite Bengaluru being known for its rapid development and high-tech infrastructure, the state of this road is a glaring exception. Under the brand of the 'Bengaluru Smart City' scheme, you would expect better maintenance, yet the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) seems to have no time or priority to fill these dangerous potholes. How many times should taxpayers pay for the same road ? Just 2–3 months after patchwork was carried out, the asphalt has already deteriorated to the point where it’s difficult to even tell that repairs were done. When we spoke to the engineer, we were informed that the earlier work was carried out by BWSSB, and because of poor quality, a fresh estimate is now being considered to repair the same stretch again. This raises some important questions, not just for one road, one constituency, or one department, but the entire city. If public money has already been spent once, who is accountable when the work fails within a matter of months? Was the restoration inspected before being accepted? Have we our such contractor? Does the contractor have a defect liability period or maintenance obligation, and if so, why should taxpayers pay again instead of enforcing those contractual obligations? How much of Bengaluru’s infrastructure budget is being spent on redoing work that should have lasted much longer? This isn’t about targeting any individual or political party. It’s about demanding transparency, quality, and accountability in the use of PUBLIC funds. Every rupee spent comes from the people. Every failed project deserves EXPLANATION. Every contractor and every department responsible for public works should be held to the same standard.
