Ghostty on macOS now copies multiple formats into the clipboard. If you paste into rich text apps now, it'll preserve formatting! If you paste plain text, that'll work too. I think Ghostty may be the only macOS terminal other than the built-in to do this. Coming soon to GTK.

Even with close confirmation I sometimes close my terminal and think "OH FUCK NO." Coming soon to Ghostty, you can undo that. 🥰 (Technical details: we keep the terminal running for a configurable time in the background before terminating for real, similar to email undo send). (macOS only for now, AppKit APIs provide a nice undo manager implementation that eases this quite a bit. I still have to do research on GTK for Linux.)

Command palette coming to Ghostty, implemented with native UI of course. macOS initially but GTK will follow and be part of the same tagged release, since there's already a mostly complete open PR. Almost all keybinding actions available, will be able to customize entries too.

Smol tip: pasting long text into Claude Code collapses it into [Pasted text #1]. If you need to edit it you can paste again to expand. Or, Ctrl+G to open the whole prompt in your code editor. Saved changes sync back to Claude's input field.

mattn Thanks, I've implemented essentially this using our internal TUI framework. Just shipped a new release. `amp update` will get it. Let me know if this works for you. (I used the Pinyin IME I'm familiar with on macOS in Ghostty, but I hope the technique will work in general.)

This bugs me more than it should. This is Ghostty, but it happens to other software. Characters on the corners are cropped by the border radius of the window. I like macOS in general, but wish Apple would roll back the rounded corners a tad.

Ghostty lets you control the opacity of unfocused splits. Just add this to ~/.config/ghostty/config: unfocused-split-opacity = 0.85 Super useful when working across multiple panes, you always know where your focus is. If the opacity doesn't load on startup, hit cmd+shift+, to reload your config.

Nice! (if you like that sort of thing) Nothing to do with pretext (and won't actually work with pretext right now, but that'll be a relatively simple fix)

When Ghostty detects a password input prompt, it now changes the cursor to a lock and on macOS enables the secure input API. When the secure input API is enabled, we show a neat, animated icon that explains what's going on when clicked. Another example of native UI wins (imo). Secure Input is the macOS system API that prevents accessibility APIs from reading your keystrokes, so things like screen recording software and so on can't read your passwords. Other terminals on macOS support secure input. I think only iTerm also supports secure input on password detection. So as a disclaimer, I'm not trying to claim this as a huge innovation, I just think our implementation is nice. 😊

When their VC funding dries up, they shut down or pivot, and you start over. Plain-text accounting takes the opposite approach: your finances live in a .ledger file. Open it in vim. Claude Mobile starts the idea... Ghostty finishes it I basically use Claude Mobile as a notepad now. Whenever something comes to mind, I open the app, pick a repo, and ask Claude to start exploring. Then I just let it run while I go on with my day. Later I jump into Claude Desktop and I’m right back in the same session, with context, structure, and a clearer shape of the idea. I tweak a few things to set up the coding phase. Finally, one click to Ghostty (video), open a couple of worktrees, and start working on the PR. IMPORTANT: when you move to Ghostty, it must be the exact same repo you started on mobile, otherwise the --teleport command will fail
