Ghostty on macOS now also has native GUI for showing progress bars reported by OSC 9;4. This is, as far as I know, the first macOS terminal to support this (will be part of Ghostty 1.2, coming soon. Available now in tip releases). Esc sequence and script in quoted post.

Ghostty on Linux now has native GUI for showing progress bars (as reported by ConEmu's OSC 9;4 code). The style can be customized through GTK CSS (e.g. colors, size, and more). The terminal escape code: Ignore my missing "new tab" icon lol.

Ghostty on macOS now copies multiple formats into the clipboard. If you paste into rich text apps now, it'll preserve formatting! If you paste plain text, that'll work too. I think Ghostty may be the only macOS terminal other than the built-in to do this. Coming soon to GTK.

Command palette coming to Ghostty, implemented with native UI of course. macOS initially but GTK will follow and be part of the same tagged release, since there's already a mostly complete open PR. Almost all keybinding actions available, will be able to customize entries too.

Even with close confirmation I sometimes close my terminal and think "OH FUCK NO." Coming soon to Ghostty, you can undo that. 🥰 (Technical details: we keep the terminal running for a configurable time in the background before terminating for real, similar to email undo send). (macOS only for now, AppKit APIs provide a nice undo manager implementation that eases this quite a bit. I still have to do research on GTK for Linux.)

Thanks to an amazing contributor, Ghostty now supports a beautiful titlebar with tabs in the titlebar. These are still fully native tabs, we surgically modify macOS's view hierarchy to make them look like this, so they retain all the macOS native behaviors you'd expect.

The video below compares the plain-text throughput of Ghostty to another popular macOS terminal. Note that this video only showcases one particular type of speed. This bugs me more than it should. This is Ghostty, but it happens to other software. Characters on the corners are cropped by the border radius of the window. I like macOS in general, but wish Apple would roll back the rounded corners a tad.

i'm writing my own gui framework in c++ and rewriting my image editor using it, which is going good so far, i wanted to move from swiftui, qt, tauri, electron, react native, and flutter so i can use metal and directx gpu apis on macos and windows as much as possible,so i think going full metal/directx is the way to go i know i have a very hard and long way to go though as there are many many flaws,bugs in this very very early version and doesnt utilize the gpu as much as i want to but i hope we will get there soon ,i also need to make the ui look somewhat decent instead of whatever mess it is right now

Daily work routine is dead simple. I open Ghostty and invoke "Klaude" It will automatically "brew upgrade claude-code" and launch 4 claudes in Tmux as well as a preview panel. And I will work there until the end of the day. Every day.

Claude Mobile starts the idea... Ghostty finishes it I basically use Claude Mobile as a notepad now. Whenever something comes to mind, I open the app, pick a repo, and ask Claude to start exploring. Then I just let it run while I go on with my day. Later I jump into Claude Desktop and I’m right back in the same session, with context, structure, and a clearer shape of the idea. I tweak a few things to set up the coding phase. Finally, one click to Ghostty (video), open a couple of worktrees, and start working on the PR. IMPORTANT: when you move to Ghostty, it must be the exact same repo you started on mobile, otherwise the --teleport command will fail
