Just one day of sitting in the sun releases thousands to tens of thousands of additional microplastic particles Heat accelerates plastic degradation, increasing chemical and microplastic leaching It gets worse in the sun, higher temperatures break down chemical bonds in plastic. This causes more microplastics to leach into the drink A 2024 study found an average of 240,000 plastic particles per liter in bottled water, with 90% being nanoplastics (smaller than 1 micrometer) and 10% microplastics (1-5 mm) What’s happening here with these drink bottles being left in the sun behind stores is very common, I’ve shared multiple videos of this same thing happening. Those with plastic jars or pitchers release microplastics, and even nanoplastics, into blended food or drinks due to friction and mechanical abrasion during blending. A single 30-second blending cycle can release up to 1 billion (yes, with a "b") micro- and nanoplastic particles. BPA-free products are safer but can still release particles due to heavy use, heat, or abrasion. My advice is to switch to a completely stainless-steel blender.
