There’s not much better than picking what’s maybe the best golf brain of all time. So many questions Tiger answers these days are about his health and his future and his schedule and I get the sense he really does not enjoy talking about that stuff. It has to bum him out, right? He wants to play more often. No one wants him to play more than he does. He goes through 3+ hours of prep—work-out, activations, massage therapy—every time he plays and after the rounds it’s a steady diet of ice baths. That can’t be fun. What Tiger loves talking about is golf. He fucking loves golf. Golf tournaments, golf stories, golf architecture. It’s amazing when he goes in-detail about what makes a course difficult. At the same time, it’s a peak into how he likes to attack a golf course. When he says 'most golf courses that we play, you shots into where it’s feeding off to slopes into flags, where it’s collecting” my mind goes to Augusta. If you’re in control of your ball, you can find funnels on certain quadrants and you’re going to get a lot of good birdie looks. That’s not the case this week. Not even close. Gamble Sands lives up to this ethos. How is it possible that this swing can shoot around even par on a golf course I've never played or even seen before? Here's just a few god awful looking swings of mine due to the fact my back was in pain every shot... (lower back seized up) You know what I learned from playing golf crippled... I learned that you don't actually need to do much to play good golf & hit the golf ball where you want I was swinging the club no faster than 95mph (If I was lucky), I did however hit it pretty damn straight most of the time, got up & down a lot, & holed a few putts I wasn't trying to stop early extension. I wasn't trying to "drop it in the slot". I wasn't trying to "get open at impact (I couldn't). All I tried to do was swing my arms & control where the face was at impact I played better golf than 99% of golfers on the planet & I had no speed + a crippled lower back I think we need to ask ourselves what is truely required to play good golf. It actually doesn't take that much...

Of all the discoveries I’ve made throughout 15 years of “Journeys” and “Away Games,” it’s Ardglass Golf Club, the course and the community, that I’ll never shake. A home away from home, I found it the day after the 2015 Irish Open Pro-Am. I had been out late, had no interest in being up early, but Marty Carr of Carr Golf insisted we rally and play what he considered “a hidden gem.” We hear it a lot, but in this case, it has never been more true. I’ve been back now, several times. Not far from Royal County Down (30 mins?), the course and community feels like a home away from home. Fitzy is the 11-time club champ and a prince of a person. Terry Clark: "I really think we've got a strong position in May. Certainly I'm always going to look at what could make us better, but not actively looking at should we look and move this to later or back to August. "So I don't see that as one I'm really pushing on a change right now." Kerry Haigh: "Golf course conditioning, while it's a little different and maybe a little stressful because, certainly, when we play in the Northeast, the grasses don't really get going until two or three weeks ago. But I think this week speaks for itself, how incredibly good the golf course can be and how healthy the grass is at this time of year."
