Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited (SDAL), a Solar Group company, successfully developed and test-fired the third stage Rocket Motor with flex nozzle-based Thrust Vector Control for the VIKRAM-1 Satellite Launch Vehicle. With 2400 kg propellant mass and 75,000 N thrust, the motor passed all quality checks and was fired at SDAL’s in-house test facility. The AVac (Archimedes Vacuum) engine produces 1.2x lbf of its Stage 1 variant and stands ~2.5m taller thanks to its extended nozzle optimized for the vacuum conditions of space. Recent AVac testing included a stub skirt for the nozzle. Since full length vacuum nozzles at ground level risk flow separation and instability, stub skirts are used to anchor our engineers' analysis for how the engine will perform with the full nozzle in vacuum conditions - all critical preparation for Neutron's first flight.

A capacitive sensor on the cutting head keeps the nozzle only fractions of a millimeter above the metal sheet, even when the sheet is warped or vibrating. That tiny distance is everything for a clean cut. 🇷🇺 Russia’s Yakovlev makes another fully domestic passenger plane, a Yakovlev MC-21. These planes were developed with many Russian parts pre 2022, but now Yak reworked the model and swapped everything for Russian parts. The aircraft had its imported components and systems replaced with Russian ones. The procedure of swapping every part of a plane for domestic components is extremely complex, as this has not been done before. Usually you iterate on a plane part by part, not doing such a big bang change. This procedure includes replacement of the cockpit controls, control system drives, wing mechanization movement system and stabilizer adjustment mechanism, avionics complex, integrated air conditioning system, integrated system for collecting, monitoring, processing, and recording flight information, wheel braking system, main and auxiliary power units, fuel system, wheels, tires, and more. The plant workers, together with specialists from the flight test and refinement complex of PJSC "Yakovlev," are checking the fuel system, start-up and operation of the auxiliary power unit and main engines, as well as testing of the aircraft's systems and equipment with the engines running. Frequency tests of the landing gear systems and integrated control system were also carried out on the aircraft. 1/
