Don Mattingly explaining to practice being short & quick in practice with the focus of hitting line drives opposed to trying to lift & launch in batting practice. If you are hitting low line drives with back spin in practice consistently off of 60 MPH when you take that same swing off of 90+ MPH & just miss slightly below / clip the bottom half. Those turn into Doubles & Home Runs. But when you try and lift off of batting practice & lift in the game. That is when you find tons of swing & miss as well as top spin ground balls.

We strongly believe that you ca hold your players accountable to exceptionally high standards without making them run suicides! 🙌 A lot of coaches use these traditional methods due to insecurities in their own coaching. If players are "misbehaving" in a practice, we believe it's due to a failure in the learning environment created by the coach.

Kyle Shanahan was asked when Garrett Wallow popped up on his radar and what was his first impression of him: “First day of practice when they told me we got a guy off Denver’s practice squad. I got to meet him in the special teams room before we went out to practice. Asked him how Huff, Dre, and DJ were doing. Then we out and watched him practice and right away you could tell… I felt pretty excited with what we got. You never know when you get a guy off someone else’s practice squad. But right away you hold tell he was an NFL player with a lot of upside.”
