Like I don’t see this intention behind these cuts here. The performances from the Stunt Team are already doing the work for you. You don’t have to help them out by adding two unnecessary cuts in there. It doesn’t make sense!

I also don’t see the point in adding extra frames for this Scorpion that the Stunt Peformer is executing perfectly. It already looks nasty. If you just used a really good take of the wreck instead, it would still sell the animalistic violence this scene is trying to portray IMO!

I love this, well said. There’s nothing innately wrong with quick cuts & fast edits in action, there has to be intent and a continuous rhythm. I shouldn’t be losing myself in the fight.

Pedicab Driver also works because we know where the fighters are at as an oppose to the cuts skewing the geography of the location.

And further to this point, even in those quick cuts you need to see some moves and hits that look legit. Sammo Hung and his team can sell these shots because they've trained their whole lives for it and, crucially, don't mind getting a little fucked up for real

What I see is that those guys work based on the idea that "more cuts"="more speed" but they do not have the notion that sometimes you gotta hold on some interesting compositions or struggles to give the scene an interesting rhythm

This man keeps getting criticized about the grass g wording at the property line divider of his neighbor. Normally when he cuts the divider’s grass, he will only cut and treat half of it. He feels it’s his neighbor’s responsibility too and he shouldn’t have to cut the whole thing every time. It should be noted that when the neighbor cuts it, they cut the whole thing. Is he just being petty or lazy by not just cutting the whole thing, what would you do in this situation?

The Benefits of Explosive Lifting You must eventually learn to lift in an explosive manner in order to achieve higher recruitment of the muscle fibres - as well as your fascia. You do NOT want to become a one dimensional slow slug because you’re always controlling and moving slow only using machines. Form is important, but once you’ve learned that, up the intensity in your training. Slow and controlled has its place - but so does fast and explosive. To be able to recruit higher levels of neuromuscular output - you need to practice this skill. This will also improve the slowness or lack of fast twitch muscle fibres that weightlifting can have the effect of in someone that only does weightlifting. If you’re explosively lifting then you translate some of that explosiveness in other activities.

Do one thing for me this year. Train explosively before you lose the ability to. Muscle power fades about twice as fast as your strength, and far faster than your size. So you can stay ‘strong’ on paper and still lose the one thing that actually saves you. Power. The ability to produce force fast. That's your fast-twitch fibres - the fibre that catches you mid-stumble instead of letting you hit the floor. Slow, grinding reps protect your size, not your power. You have to train the intent to move fast. That's what the Pendlay row teaches: dead stop, then explode. Strength keeps you capable. Power keeps you safe.
