Driving behind a car that suddenly starts reversing because someone in front wants to park. The guy in front reversed pretty fast, so I almost overtook, but FSD automatically reversed too. When there was enough space to park, the car in front kept reversing… I panicked, honked, and then realised FSD was stopping for a cyclist behind me and still handling it perfectly and even backing up more after the cyclist has passed. #Tesla #FSD #knokke

Almost got into an accident this afternoon while on FSD. FSD thought the FedEx truck would make its turn quicker. When it realized it couldn't, it tried to go around. At the same time, there was a car approaching in the right lane. I assume FSD calculated there was space for me in the right lane, but it really should have just slowed down. I had to slam on the brakes and steer the car to the left to avoid the driver side of my car clipping the trucks bumper. It was way too close for comfort. I have done tens of thousands of miles on FSD and have never had anything this close happen before.

Here’s a solid example of the lightning quick scan and response time that FSD is capable of. Going near 60 mph on this dark highway I could barely notice this pile of debris until I was right on top of it, but FSD saw it just in time and took appropriate evasive action avoiding what would have been a nasty hit at the very least. You could be driving manually, and FSD may still save the day. With v14.3.9, Tesla can now let FSD Supervised activate itself when it sees an imminent collision and AEB may not be enough. Instead of only slamming the brakes, the car can potentially steer around the danger, adjust speed, and keep control until the threat passes. It can even step in if you’re badly distracted or accidentally disengage FSD. A safety net even when you choose to drive yourself. Tesla / Writer: Annette, Grok Imagine Designer: Janné

FSD v14.3.9: My first critical moment with FSD. FSD spotted a stopped school bus on the right side of the road. The bus didn’t appear to have its stop sign out on the driver side. Then FSD suddenly stopped my Tesla before the green light, going from about 60 km/h to a complete stop. After thinking for a second, it decided to continue driving. The Tesla behind me was driven by a woman, and she was NOT happy about the sudden stop at all. As soon as my car started moving again, she sped up, passed me, and gave me a killer stare for several seconds without yelling. Maybe she forgave me because I’m also an FSD driver. 😂 Tesla

Tesla Self-Driving likely saved a man's life on my commute this morning. 🥹 Pouring rain. Both of us signaled to merge into the same empty lane at nearly the same time. FSD reacted immediately. I didn't even see him until FSD was already handling it. A camera-based neural net saw a motorcyclist in a rainstorm that a human didn’t and people are still debating whether this technology works. It doesn't just work. It saves lives. Thank you Tesla AI

FSD just gained a new lifetime user. I saw this posted on reddit and thought I would share it here. ---- I am not a regular subscriber, but I was getting over COVID. With the foggy brain I subscribed to FSD just for the month to help me get around while recovering. I am fully recovered but get to enjoy the rest of the month of FSD. Car updated from 13.2.9 yesterday to 14.2. Today on my way home this happened! I couldn't figure out why it was slamming on the brakes until a mere second before the deer jumped out. I am so thankful. It doesn't replace human intervention but all the extra 'eyes' help. I'm still in shock and so happy I didn't destroy the deer and the car. source:

Incredible demonstration of how far FSD can see in the dark without high beams. Tonight the car started slowing from 40mph and it literally took me and my wife SEVERAL seconds to see why. By the time we figured it out we had already slowed to like 25mph. Simply incredible. We can do such a smooth stop I had to honk to get the deer to move. 🤣🤣

FSD reacted quickly and swerved once the vehicle started pulling out of the driveway, but a human driver anticipates it earlier from the headlights reflecting across the pavement before the vehicle was visible. Training FSD to recognize indirect cues like headlight shadows could help it slow down sooner and be better prepared for emerging hazards. Tesla AI

I had a great first day with FSD v14.1.4! Multiple hands-free, point-to-point rides with no disengagements. A few “brake stabbing” events were slightly annoying but not dangerous. However, one odd event occurred today that Tesla AI and Ashok Elluswamy may want to investigate. I was going straight on FSD, the car in front turned right. For some reason, instead of just slowing down, my car veered right, activated the right signal, and stopped, letting the car behind pass before proceeding. Nothing dangerous, but rather strange behavior! I didn’t intervene. Here’s the dashcam video.
