sessions + profiles are the boring magic. once an agent can keep context, touch files/browser/tools, and not restart from goldfish mode every time, it gets way more useful.

yep, that context hygiene bit is the unlock. one giant thread turns into an expensive junk drawer fast.

the desktop is the client. perfect for building. the open question is the gateway behind it - who keeps the agent up at 3am when the desktop's closed. that's the line between a demo and an operation.

@AlexFinn Hermes Desktop is the ChatGPT moment for agents - bigger than OpenClaw. you just don’t know it yet.

The practical win: Hermes makes agents feel less like a magic chatbot and more like a workflow you can inspect. For non-coders: 1. one recurring task 2. one profile for it 3. one output to review 4. a cost cap 5. a simple change log That turns AI into an operating habit.

My team switched to Hermes Desktop last month. We run 4 client accounts through it. The profile switching alone saves me hours a week. HOURS.

I've been delaying it till now, but seeing you talk about has pushed me to finally take the decision and give it a try and integrate it within my workflow.

The useful agent workflow is not the demo. It is the boring loop after it: context, cost, permissions, handoff, audit trail.

Hermes Desktop looks like a big step forward for agent usability but the real competition isn't Hermes vs OpenClaw vs QuickClaw, it's who can make powerful agents simple enough that normal people actually use them every day.

Running the same agent stack on the DTC ad side. We pull 1M+ Meta ads into Gethookd and an agent flags top hooks every morning. Most ecom teams still scroll ad library by hand in 2026. Wild.

The next wave of AI winners won't just have the smartest agents. They'll have the best product experience around those agents. Intelligence matters. But usability, workflow integration, and trust determine adoption.

Everyone is sleeping on the UI/UX of local AI agents. The raw power has been there, but if Hermes is actually bringing an Apple-level experience to desktop, that lowers the barrier to entry for non-dev founders by 10x. Watching this tonight.

The thing most people miss about Hermes: OpenClaw connects to everything. WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, 20+ platforms. It is an assistant that reaches you everywhere. Hermes does something different. It remembers everything. Every session builds on the last. The agent gets better the longer you use it. That is not a feature update. That is a completely different product category. The security gap makes it more interesting. OpenClaw disclosed nine vulnerabilities in March alone, one rated near-perfect severity. Hermes has zero publicly disclosed agent CVEs. When an AI has access to your files, your accounts, and your workflows, that gap is not a small detail. 110,000 GitHub stars in ten weeks. Fastest-growing agent framework of 2026. The desktop app dropping on June 2 is the moment self-improving AI agents became accessible to people who never touched a command line. Greg is right. Clear your Saturday.

Hermes sessions and artifacts are the two pieces my pipeline keeps underusing. The cost savings angle has paid for the setup time twice over this month.

Good tutorials should show the operating loop, not just the feature list. Sessions, profiles, artifacts, and cost controls are what turn agents from demos into repeatable workflows.

>"Never have to go into your terminal again" If someone doesn't want to even paste a command into a terminal, they are not ready to use autonomous agents. They can get Hermes to handhold them, step by step. But this learned helplessness should not be enabled. It's dangerous

The best AI agent on your computer is useless if your idea is "Uber but for X." Agents got 10x better. Most people's ideas didn't. Fix the input, not the tool.

Desktop agents like Hermes are finally making AI feel native. What I’ve seen shipping three production SaaS apps is the real differentiator isn’t just faster prototyping, it’s using them to lock in proper architecture (Supabase realtime guards, RBAC, webhook retries) before you ever hit 50 users and the vibe coding hangover kicks in.

In the example where Alex uses his Qwen model to scan Reddit every 20 minutes (he says Opus would be very expensive), why could you not do this with the Claude Code subscription? Trying to understand why Hermes in this use case is superior to a Claude Code scheduled cron.

HERMES AGENT TURNS EXPENSE TRACKING INTO ZERO FRICTION. No Siri Shortcuts. No manual entry. Just open Telegram and say: “Hey Bob, I spent $15 on dinner at Guzman Y Gomez.” Done. Hermes profile “Bob” automatically: - Parses the message - Categorizes the expense - Writes directly to your Notion database - Asks clarifying questions when needed (e.g. “Summit” — clothing brand or location?) This is the real advantage of Hermes profiles. You create specialist agents with their own memory, tools, and instructions instead of talking to one generic assistant. Quick setup: 1. Create the profile `hermes profile create bob` 2. Connect Telegram `hermes gateway setup` 3. Equip Bob with tools Enable the Notion integration + required MCP servers so he can write to your database. 4. Define the rules Set categories, formatting and clarification logic in his system prompt or SOUL. md .HERMES AGENT TURNS EXPENSE TRACKING INTO ZERO FRICTION. No Siri Shortcuts. No manual entry. MASSIVE Hermes Agent update over the last few days Totally changes the way I use Hermes Here's 6 new features you need to start using immediately (video demoing them below): 1. Mixture of agents: send your prompt to a team of different models. The team sends back all of their responses to an orchestrator model who synthesizes a final answer. Gives much better results than just sending a prompt to 1 model 2. /learn: use the new built in /learn skill to have Hermes automatically create new skills. You can either give a prompt after /learn or put in a URL. I like pasting in URLs of tweets with helpful tips after /learn and Hermes will automatically turn it into a skill 3. /journey: See every skill and memory Hermes has created for you on a really nice timeline/chart. Great for seeing how your agent has learned and improved over time 4. Self improvement cost savings: Hermes now uses cheaper models to do it's self improvement including memory creation and skill creation. These types of activities happen in the background of almost every prompt, so this results in TONS of cost savings over time 5. Vibe coding improvements: Hermes desktop is now a full vibe coding tool. You can see diffs, make commits, and even open up PRs directly from the desktop interface. Makes it WAYYY nicer to vibe code with 6. Fable 5 is now built in. Fable 5. Obviously Fable is incredibly expensive, so only use this new profile for incredibly complex tasks. Excellent updates that have significantly improved the experience. Video demoing all the updates below!

Hermes just made its in-app browser a whole lot more useful. You can now keep multiple browser tabs open inside Hermes Desktop instead of every new page replacing the one you were already using. And that matters more than it sounds. Because this is not just about “having tabs.” It means Hermes can work across multiple pages without forcing you to keep losing your place every time you open the next thing. Research one source, keep it open, open another tab, compare them side by side, and keep moving. Check a few products before buying something. Look at multiple hotel or travel options at once. Keep a YouTube tutorial open in one tab while Hermes looks through docs or another page in the next. And because this lives inside Hermes Desktop, you are not limited to one basic browser view either. You can keep multiple tabs open. You can view two pages side by side. You can stack them top and bottom. You can even run a four-panel view when you want several pages open at once. So the browser inside Hermes is starting to feel a lot more like a real workspace instead of one page you keep replacing. There is also some nice polish that comes with it. Browser tabs now label themselves based on the page, and the address bar behaves more cleanly while pages are loading. And remember, this is the same in-app browser Hermes can already read, click through, type in, scroll, and annotate. So this is not just a prettier browser. It is a more capable workspace for the browser Hermes is actually using. If Hermes is going to do more of your work on the web, this is exactly the kind of browser upgrade it needed.
