Jarred Kelenic talking hitting. Precision over muscling up & trying to swing so hard. Strike the ball consistently with good barrel accuracy & good things will happen. Try & swing too hard & you will be inconsistent. You want high bat speed & exit velocity for sure. But that comes from the weight room, proper nutrition, & a bat speed plan. Broke the Prep Baseball Super 60 average exit velocity record back in February, while coming in 2nd overall in max exit velocity ever for the event. It’s truly disappointing to see a former MLB player who was a 1st round draft choice without ever knowing his Exit Velocity pushing this garbage! I was a pretty good hitter my entire life without ever knowing my Exit Velocity! Kids need to learn to hit the ball on the barrel consistently! Exit velocity, bat speed, and all the data matter. At some point, you do need to hit certain physical thresholds to compete at the highest levels of baseball. But once you get around players who are all talented, the separator usually isn’t another 2 mph of bat speed. It’s mental toughness. Resilience. Confidence. The ability to handle failure. Having a consistent approach. Showing up every day. Competing when things aren’t going your way. The numbers might get you noticed. Your mindset is what determines how far you go. I’ve seen plenty of players with elite metrics fail, and plenty of players with average metrics maximize every ounce of their ability because of who they were between the ears. Train the body. Don’t neglect the mind.

Eric Hartman 3/6 with a double, 2 stolen bases and 2 rbis. The ball absolutely explodes off his bat. He catches up to velo (he absolutely destroyed a 96 mph foul ball in his last at bat before the single) and stays back and through the off speed really well. His speed is top end. The way he can drive with his exit velos and his speed and glove already has him up into my top 10 prosects early in the year. .312 with a 1.030 OPS 5 Doubles 1 Triple 8 Home runs 10 Stolen bases in 23 games. And again.....he's only 19 years old.

A quick look at the ninth-inning at-bat by Roman Anthony last night - eight pitches in all. A couple of things to note: * The first two called strikes came on steals, when Anthony allowed David Hamilton to advance. * The hit had an exit velocity of slightly more than 80 mph, which means the analytics nerds probably see it as a failed at-bat, which it wasn't. In fact, it was big time. Believe your eyes.

Explaining the Ash Nerf confusion: Patchnotes say: "Dash gives less of a boost when not dashing in the direction you're moving" What does that mean ? I dug into it. TLDR: Redirects above 90° are only really possible at normal Slidejump velocities. Angle and speed of your dash will deviate further and further from where you wanna go based on speed and angle change. 90°: Dash seems to work fairly well all the way up to 90° up to a certain velocity. - At Slidejump velocities it works in all directions. - At Superjump velocities you can still dash full 90°. - Above 90° your final direction deviates more and more from your desired direction as the angle increases. - Backwards dash seems to straight up subtract with whatever current velocity you have. Velocity: - As velocity increases even 90° changes are no longer possible. - And as your speed goes above the speed of the dash, dashing backwards will drop you straight down or you'll even continue traveling forward. Nerd yap: I feels like it's not just a straight vector addition but it does in fact have some velocity/angle thresholds in place. My assumption is that >90° changes stop applying the full dash boost at around the velocity of the dash itself so 600-700hu/s. And that above 90° it is a straight up dot product no matter the velocity. You just don't really notice cus of the low initial speed. But players will adjust to it based on feeling and experience anyways so i currently don't care enough to dig deeper🤷‍♂️
