How do you increase explosive strength once basic jumping is no longer enough? That’s where Verkhoshansky placed depth jumps. He didn’t treat them like general / extensive plyometrics. They were shock method exercises, designed to introduce a sharp external force through a

prescribed drop height followed by an immediate, forceful takeoff. The goal was to create a much more intense stimulus than you get from basic jumping. That’s also why depth jumps aren’t something I rush into with athletes. You want general strength, jumping ability, and

enough tissue tolerance already in place. They’re also not meant to become high volume and/or conditioning work. Used in the right place, they can provide an extremely powerful stimulus for explosive strength. I still use them the same way today and there are variations

throughout my programs… Maximum Output is my newest 8-week speed program and the evolution of everything I’ve learned and changed since Speed Kills. It shows exactly how I currently organize acceleration, max velocity, loaded and unloaded jumps, Olympic derivatives, strength

work, and conditioning across the week. Speed Kills is the deeper educational resource. It breaks down sprint mechanics, acceleration, max velocity, plyometrics, strength training, and programming so you understand why these methods work, when to use them, and how to

progress them. More than 1,300 coaches and athletes have already used it. And today is the final day to get Strength X Speed Block 1. This is exactly how I train myself: sprinting, jumping, explosive work, strength, muscle, and conditioning all built together. Block 1 is

being removed from the site today, and Block 2 goes live tomorrow. Once Block 1 is gone, it’s gone.
