Great to see at your museum. It surprised me how “tidy” this piece is. You expect really thick impasto, but it isn’t. It’s extremely clean, especially the blues, with thicker white on top. 😍

On Sunday afternoon, in a drive at the Gourkanya Bus Terminus in Malda, names, logos and stickers mimicking those of government buses were removed from several private buses. Many private buses were operating with colour schemes (blue and white) and names resembling those of the state transport corporation. The use of such colours and names was causing confusion among passengers, particularly women. Following an order from the state government, free travel for women on government buses was introduced on 1 June. However, due to the visual similarity between government and private buses, many female passengers were inadvertently boarding private buses and subsequently getting hassled. Some private buses were displaying names like NBTS, MBTSG, and MMT to mimic the name of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC). Additionally, the vehicles were painted blue and white, just like government buses. On Sunday afternoon, Anupam Chakraborty, the regional transport officer (RTO) of the district, arrived at the Gourkanya Bus Terminus with transport department staff. There, misleading logos and stickers were removed from several private buses. Furthermore, markings and text imitating the state transport corporation’s branding were painted over with black ink. Passengers expressed relief at this move by the transport department. They believe that a clear distinction between government and private buses will prevent future confusion and significantly reduce harassment, especially for female passengers. Maloy Karmakar, in charge of the Malda Depot of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation, stated that the blue-and-white colour scheme has been used on NBSTC buses for many years, and the colour of private buses is not within their jurisdiction. However, he noted that female passengers often ask if a bus is a government one; NBSTC buses are painted blue and white as per government regulations, while the RTO office would be the authority to speak on bus colour specifications.

For many years, Team India has been playing in a blue jersey. This time, the primary kit color was changed to orange, while the secondary color remained white. We received feedback and suggestions from our players, coaches, and support staff pointing out that the turf itself is blue. Technically, since the turf is blue and the players' jerseys are also blue, they were facing slight visibility issues on the field. That is when they suggested two alternative colors, yellow and orange. Looking at the three colors of the Indian national flag, we already have white as our secondary jersey color. She has two assigned parking spaces in her apartment complex, and right beside hers are her neighbor’s two spots, usually occupied by his bright red pickup truck. Everyone knows which space belongs to who. One afternoon, the neighbor pulls in and finds a blue pickup truck parked in one of his reserved spots. Instead of calling management or having it towed, he grabs his tools, walks over calmly… and removes a tire from the back of the blue truck, leaving it propped awkwardly in the space. By the time the owner of the blue truck comes out, there’s confusion, frustration, and now potential damage involved. I understand the frustration of someone parking where they shouldn’t, especially in paid, reserved spaces. But escalating things physically can create bigger problems than the original mistake. Sometime, the smartest move isn’t the most dramatic one. Was that standing up for his property rights — or did he just turn a parking issue into a criminal one?

"We've advanced a tech level!" Popular belief credits Dune II as the first major RTS, and it certainly launched the genre into the spotlight with near perfect reviews and massive commercial success. However, other RTS games predated it. One was Mega-Lo-Mania, developed by Sensible Software and released in 1991 for the Amiga and Atari ST. You control one of four gods: Scarlet (red), Oberon (yellow), Caesar (green), or Madcap (blue), trying to conquer 28 islands across eras from 9500 BC to 2001 AD, each with new units and structures. You begin with 100 men per island, mine resources, research tech trees to unlock units from primitive cavemen to powerful tanks and lasers. Though smaller in scope than Dune II, it helped pave the way for the genre. The digitized speech and pixelated beauty still holds up if you ask me. Not bad for a 35 year old game.
