DATA CENTRES Let me share some uncomfortable information The data Centres they are seeking to build will be the surveillance centres. They will act like the prison warden, monitoring and allocating punishments and giving scores. For those data Centres to work, they will need FRESH WATER to cool the hardware. They will need to divert water from entire dams towards the data centre. For example all the water feeding the Nairobi population will need to be diverted to the data centres for cooling the systems. See the number of legal cases in the USA against the data Centres. We have not talked about radiation that they will produce and affect the populations living in the environs

The arms race of quant funds making vids about water cooling AI data centres is unreal. Hudson River Trading uses one in Norway cooled by fjord seawater. It’s piped into a former mountain-side mineral mine now hosting GPU racks. Heated water sent to a land-based salmon farm nearby and the farm produces 15,000 tonnes of salmon a year. Salmon are very sensitive to water temperature and the data center water (that came in cold from the fjord) is now heated to a salmon-friendly 20°C. When is the RenTech data centres water optimization video dropping?

This Victorian AI Hub will guzzle more grid power than it generates onsite battery & turbines just prop up the shared system (with gas backups). Georgia is basically turning into one large data center Get ready for this, there is no legal obligation for data centers to disclose how much water they will be using - Georgia currently has about 162 data centers already - They have an additional 141 new data centers planned - Combined these data centers will use 12+ GW or more of power, this is equivalent to the usage of 10 MILLION homes - Combined water usage estimate of 35+ billion gallons per year or higher Absolutely insane There is no comprehensive federal requirement for data centers to publicly report detailed water usage. A bill was introduced called “the Data Center Water and Energy Transparency Act” to mandate reporting of energy and water consumption to states and the EPA This is an issue, here’s one example The Quality Technology Services data center in Fayette County used 29–30 million gallons of water went unmetered and unbilled for months without initial detection. When people say data centers use millions of gallons of water, they're describing an old technology. Before, water went into evaporative cooling towers. Warm water pulled heat off the AI chips, then evaporated into the air to shed it. It was effective, but it burned through fresh water continuously, which is where the headline numbers come from today around "data centers use a massive amount of water." The data centers we revealed at Build today don't work that way. The cooling loop is closed. Water is added once during construction and recirculates indefinitely between the servers and the chillers. No evaporation, no fresh-water resupply! Satya put the scale in plain terms: a full year of water use is roughly what a single restaurant uses. Keep in mind that for us, every liter and every watt is an optimization target. The economics and the environment push in the same direction!

In some cities and states, humans are limited with how much water they can use. Can’t water grass, can’t wash your car, etc. Can’t even catch rain water in some places. But data centers can have as much water as they need. Please make this make sense.
