Reasoning is what really changed the game with FSD V14, and as they implement more of it, it’s going to be game over. Here’s a great example. FSD exits the parking lot of this coffee shop. If you zoom into the nav at the top right corner, you can see that it’s telling me to turn left (illegal to do so here). This has been a map error at this shop for a while. On all previous FSD versions, I’d disengage here as FSD would try to make the illegal left. With V14.2 reasoning, the car gathers context, understands it isn’t supposed to turn left here/ignores nav and triggers the re-route.

I stopped the car, but either way, it wasn’t a very “close” event, but still something that needed to be intervened. I didn’t feel as if it was a situation that I wanted the car to work itself through. I felt this was an instance when it was time to take any chance of a collision out of the question. I didn’t ever feel like one was going to happen because I knew I could stop at any time. We’ve put about 3,000 miles on the car since picking it up, a majority of those on FSD. For this to be the first real mistake it’s made, it’s not totally upsetting, but still a reminder that YOU as the driver are responsible.

Sprinkle of Cybertruck FSD mishaps. FSD v14.2.1. FSD was getting ready to make a left turn. In fairness, I pushed the pedal as there still was time to make the turn before the oncoming car. However, I took the foot off and the truck came to a stop. Then when the turn was almost complete, FSD threw the red hands and the message said "Aborted with a system error." If you are wondering why I looked at the camera in between, I wanted to make sure it was recording the situation. I have hours of video footage I recorded while driving on FSD 14.2 and 14.2.1.

While taking my wife to work this morning Tesla FSD 14.3.2 decided to take us off the navigation and on a 3-minute detour of the Woodlands. But then as soon as my wife was saying something about the navigation snafu, FSD showed her what is truly important, as it avoided a car in the opposite lane of traffic coming into our lane while being a jackass trying to go around a school bus full of kids. My wife may not have been pleased with the 3-minute detour, but then Tesla FSD said "put some 'spec on my name woman!"

V14.2.1 highway regression vs 14.1. In standard mode, FSD makes a maneuver into the left lane to pass a semi truck. Because they have jailed the speed limits of non mad max profiles, FSD cannot use acceleration to make this pass. So it ends up camping the left lane. In my right side view mirror, you can see someone coming up on my ass, and FSD is not getting back over. It’s also not speeding up to pass the semi because it is in speed jail. I had to scroll mad max to get through the maneuver. Def a regression from 14.1.

FSD slams on the brakes for a cat in the road that doesn’t even exist. This is FSD 12.6.4 on HW3, which is a lot more sensitive to shadows & objects in the road with the 2026.8.6 update. There are many reports of brake stabbing. It brings me back to the days when I was testing with v10.3 of FSD back in 2021. It’s interesting that it’s the same FSD version as before, and not something like 12.6.4.1, but I guess Tesla can change the weights without changing the version. And they’ve likely been doing this for a while with 12.6.4. 😒

Hurry Mode is no longer capped at 10 MPH over the speed limit, and now travels with the flow of traffic. This is much more comfortable and requires no assistance on the driver’s end. Previously, I was helping it switch lanes with v14.2.1. ✅ Lane changes are performed much more confidently and FSD seems to make proper maneuvers at proper times. This was a regression in v14.2.1. This version is significantly better. ✅ Merging, switching lanes, and passing are all performed with zero interventions. Perhaps the most natural feeling of highway driving in an FSD update in some time. Well done Tesla AI

There is SO much improvement in v13, and to think it'll just keep getting better is mind blowing. ✅ Speedbumps are basically flawless now ✅ Maneuver through traffic in hurry mode 😍 ✅ Agressive but incredible decisions Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see, I am going to be out filming all day today.
