Dormant Memories — a gallery regrouping my recent experiments built from real-world captures, reconstructed as 3D Gaussian Splats, and in many cases manipulated using World Labs' Marble. Everything is built with Spark, the 3D Gaussian splat renderer released by World Labs. It runs in the browser and can be experienced across devices: desktop, mobile, and headsets like Apple Vision Pro and Quest 3. This work comes out of something I've been exploring for a few years now: capturing fragments of the world (places, objects, moments...) and turning them into spaces that can then be revisited, manipulated, and explored in real time. What particularly interests me here is the process of creating alternate versions of the same place; starting from something that physically exists and using it as a base to explore variations, instead of generating from scratch. These explorations are part of what we do at Dpt.... same tools, same curiosity, same collaborative energy that shape the studio's work on interactive and immersive experiences. Some of these experiments were featured as part of the Spark 2.0 release by World Labs. Their technical blog post is a must-read; link in the thread ↓ These are experiments. If you’re visiting Kyoto, here’s a perfect day trip you probably didn’t expect. A route where you can visit the Nintendo Museum, eat amazing mazemen, and see a World Heritage site — all in one day. Nintendo Museum — About 30 minutes by train from Kyoto Station. Tickets are distributed by lottery, and applications open three months in advance, so reservations are essential. On weekends and holidays, the odds can be 30 to 1 or even higher, making it one of the most competitive tickets in Japan. When I finally visited, it brought back so many memories. All the games I used to play as a kid kept appearing one after another. I even tried Mario Kart with a giant controller and somehow got first place🤣 The shop is full of exclusive items you can only buy here, and I definitely bought way too many T-shirts haha. Seikou Udoku — About 4 minutes by taxi or 20 minutes on foot from Nintendo Museum. I was looking for a good ramen spot in Uji and decided to try this place. It turned out to be really good. Their spicy mazemen is seriously addictive. After finishing the bowl, I immediately thought, “I want to come back again.” If you like spicy food or curry-style flavors, I highly recommend it. It’s also very highly rated, so it’s easy to see why locals love it. Byodo-in Phoenix Hall — About 7 minutes by taxi or 20 minutes on foot from Seikou Udoku. A UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for appearing on the 10-yen coin. The building looks like it’s floating on the pond, and the view is absolutely beautiful. I’ve visited several times, and every time I come back, I’m impressed all over again. If you visit Kyoto, this is a place you shouldn’t miss. Uji turned out to be a much more packed and rewarding day than I expected. I’ve attached a video from my previous visit, so feel free to check it out.

Ancient ruins of Palmyra, a city called "the Bride of the Desert," rediscovered by Westerners in 17th-18th Centuries. Middle East has affected the West throughout history, yesterday and today. Palmyra is the Latin name given by the Romans to the palm tree rich area they annexed onto their Eastern Empire in the first century. Before that, as written in The Holy Bible (2 Chronicles 8:4) and other ancient documents, Tadmor was its name, a desert city built by Solomon (990-931 BC). The oasis began to flourish under the Roman reign of Tiberius, after about 15 AD, until roughly 273 AD. The ruins in Palmyra are from this Roman period—before the Edict of Milan in 313 AD, early Christian architecture, and Byzantine engineering. This is a time when Western civilization was influenced by Eastern traditions and methods—the introduction of al jabr (algebra) and, in architecture, the pointed arch, well-known as a feature in Western Gothic architecture but said to have originated in Syria. The architecture of Palmyra exemplified the "Eastern" influence on "Western" art and architecture. Like citadel atop a hill in Aleppo, Palmyra's reconstructed citadel—Qala'at ibn Maan—stood watch over the grand crossroads below. At least it did before the 2011 Syrian civil war began.
