I didn't appreciate how advanced Red Dead Redemption 1 is for its time. Recently started playing it again and I have to say that these euphoria ragdoll physics are seriously impressive

One of the Grand Theft Auto V downsides was that it didn't match GTA IV in terms of euphoria ragdoll physics, in this example here you can see how easily the NPCs die when you shoot them on the foot. Part of the reason why I believe the euphoria engine was downgraded was due to the scale of GTA V and that it was designed for PS3/Xbox 360 consoles. Fast Forward a generation later, Red Dead Redemption 2 is much better compared to this, but I still prefer the one in Grand Theft Auto IV. When GTA VI comes out, perhaps we will see a more improved version of euphoria ragdoll physics which will be a mix of both GTA IV style ragdolls and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Honest question, has any AAA game gotten close to providing the same level of realism when it comes to NPCs like Red Dead Redemption 2? Most open-world games that have come out recently are visually impressive, however NPC interactions always feel a generation behind RDR2. Its always good to see advancements when it comes to graphics, but I'd also like to see the same level of effort being put to systems that allow for more complex game mechanics like realistic NPC interaction, seamless random events which are in my opinion just as important as visuals. These things make a video-game feel more immersive and alive, its also the exact reason why its super easy to get lost in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 because of everything that happens around the world and the way NPCs react to your actions feels natural.

On the topic of disturbing game quests, Red Dead Redemption 2 definitely had its fair share of quests that still creep me out me and the first one that comes to mind is the Man-made Mutant. I remember when I discovered this place for the first time thinking to myself that I found an enterable house just to find this horrifying man-made mutant.

I'm afraid that once GTA 6 comes out, I won't be able to fully enjoy new AAA games from other game studios I remember after finishing Red Dead Redemption 2, I had a really difficult time playing any new games because they felt outdated and wouldn't feel immersed.

The only game that tops Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of overall realism will be GTA 6 Not visually of course, but everything. From the character movement, the realistic environments, random events, ragdoll physics, wildlife interacting with each other and also how NPCs naturally react depending on the player's actions. Its still crazy to me that this has yet to be topped by any other game studio except Rockstar Games themselves, RAGE engine is truly in a league of its own.

I recently played (and beat) Red Dead Redemption 2 for the third time. (Story mode) There is no doubt in my mind that RDR2 is the greatest game ever made. A categorical masterpiece that got better each time I decided to play and beat it again. If they drop a 3rd game I will definitely be going all-in and getting one of these exclusive box editions.

Red Dead Redemption 2 on the other hand has a completely different NPC interaction system where you have the option to greet, antagonize or rob NPCs. These options alone can give you the freedom to greet an NPC first, then immediately antagonize them to allow for different outcomes based on how you choose to interact with NPCs. This alone was a game changer and you can expect Grand Theft Auto VI to have an even more complex NPC interaction system compared to Red Dead Redemption 2, with more dialogue options and different outcomes. Its probably one of the reasons why GTA VI is taking much longer to develop, imagine how many lines of dialogue Rockstar Games had to record and make all of them work seamlessly by the time the game comes out.

Crimson Desert visuals remind me a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 and gameplay similar to Skyrim. The map is going to be twice the size of Skyrim and larger than Red Dead Redemption 2, but obviously map size and number of quests doesn't matter if they're all copy-pasted and repetitive. I also wasn't shocked when I found out it runs on its own proprietary engine because the visuals look truly different and unique from what I'm used to after playing a ton of UE5 games that have a similar look, hopefully the use of its proprietary engine also means a good performance with a high resolution. So far from what I've seen, this game looks stunning and sometimes I feel like it is too good to be true, I can't wait to get my hands on it and see if it lives up to all of this. This could actually be one of GOTY contenders for 2026.

I don't think I've ever seen fire physics as realistic as in Red Dead Redemption 2. If all of this was possible on a PS4 console, can you imagine how good fire physics will be on Grand Theft Auto 6 when it comes out later this year?

I'm playing GTA V on a PS3 and its been such a fun experience. I remember when was a kid and playing this for the first time, I didn't give a damn about how BAD the framerate was during driving. I was constantly in awe by how realistic this game looked back then that the framerate wasn't something that was going to stop me from enjoying it. Don't get me wrong, this game is running on a PS3 that has 256mb of RAM and 256mb of VRAM which is some black magic itself and the fact that Rockstar Games managed to have such a massive open world game with that much traffic and NPCs running in real-time is a feat on its own.
