Ukraine should strongly signal they have no interest in joining NATO ...then Russia should signal it will never advance farther into Ukraine. Once the fighting has stopped, a beneficial and shared 20km wide 'agricultural and energy' buffer zone should be established. In this zone all military weapons and equipment should forever be prohibited. A totally peaceful and lasting shared zone between the two nations should be created. 🇺🇦 🇷🇺

I held a Staff meeting today. Many reports on supplies for our troops—weapons, all procurements. Contracts and supplies are in place. But we need to accelerate deliveries and increase the supply of systems and weapons that help save more of our soldiers’ lives. More orders for drones. More investment in the development of robotic systems. And more deliveries of essential weaponry. All necessary directives have been issued. Our industry has the potential. Countries, particularly in Europe, are ready to work with Ukraine and invest in our arms production. Our diplomats have clear tasks. We need to increase our partners' funding for Ukraine's defense. This must also be a key performance indicator for Ukrainian diplomacy.

We are creating new joint weapons production with our partners. For the first time in history, Ukraine has begun building a joint plant with Denmark, on Danish territory, and it will produce components for our missiles and drones, weapons that are already proving highly effective. During this war, Ukraine has already reached the level where nearly 60 percent of the weapons in the hands of our warriors are Ukrainian-made – and they are strong weapons, many of them cutting-edge. Of course, there are goals we must still achieve, in particular the production in Ukraine and together with Ukraine different types of air defense systems. We must get there. Ukraine has already proven that in weapons production we are among the best in the world. I thank everyone who is developing Ukraine’s defense sector, designing new models of Ukrainian weapons, and driving the technological advancement of our country.

We continue to work actively to put all of our agreements with partners on new arms production into action, including co-production and joint maintenance capabilities. The goal is to strengthen Ukraine to the maximum and add to our defense every month. This week has proved the effectiveness of the air defense systems provided by partners. We are working to bolster our air defense and have already made agreements. This topic is being discussed at every meeting with partners. There will be more systems and more protection. We are also planning more important foreign contacts until the end of the year. Despite the fact that the holiday season reduces political activity in many countries, our whole foreign policy team is working around the clock. I thank everyone in our state who keeps up with such a fast pace and who never tires of protecting, working, and helping.

I held a meeting with Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas, who is visiting Ukraine for the first time in this capacity. We discussed the implementation of the PURL and SAFE initiatives, opportunities for joint weapons production, and Ukraine’s European integration. We also addressed the need to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia and prepare the 20th EU sanctions package. New restrictions are needed on the banking sector, the shadow fleet, and Russian propagandists. I thank the President, Government, Parliament, and all Lithuanians for their consistent and reliable support of Ukraine – we have confidence in it and truly feel it.

Today I held a Staff meeting – focused primarily on technological issues. The Russians are once again concentrating their strikes on the energy facilities. Of course, we have responses to this and will continue to respond, but the main priority is the stability of the system. We also defined key objectives together with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine for the upcoming Ramstein meeting in the coming days. Strengthening air defense is the number one goal for this Ramstein and for our contacts in Europe and the U.S. in general. The Ukrainian army must be – and will be – consistently strong.

It is crucial that Ukraine fights according to the rules, and that humanitarian needs in that area must be met. Today’s report from the head of the Security Service of Ukraine was positive. I want to thank all our SBU warriors, as well as the warriors of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), and all the structures involved. I thank for the precise, timely, and effective strikes on Russian airfields. Our Ukrainian drones are working exactly as needed. However, there are things that drones alone cannot achieve, unfortunately. We need other weapons—missile systems. We continue to work with our partners to secure long-range solutions for Ukraine because these are forward-looking decisions essential for our victory. This must be done. The bolder our partners' decisions, the less Putin can do.

The security reality here on NATO's eastern flank depends on Ukraine. When we applied to join NATO, we were frank: 🇺🇦 is de facto already in the Alliance. Our weapons are the weapons of the Alliance. Our values are what the Alliance believes in. Our defense is the very element of the formula of Europe that makes it united, free and peaceful. Vilnius must confirm all this. We are still working on the wording, that is, on the specific words of such confirmation, but we already understand the fact that 🇺🇦 will be in the Alliance, and we are working to make the algorithm for gaining membership as clear and fast as possible. Our work for this - the work of the entire Ukrainian team - will continue each and every minute of these days.

The agreements reached at the leaders’ level must be implemented much faster and in full. The U.S. and our agreement on licenses for the production of Patriots. Europe and our work to develop Europe’s own anti-ballistic capabilities, as well as other projects focused specifically on defensive cooperation. Anti-ballistic capabilities are now in short supply globally because of the war with Iran, but we must look for solutions. We are trying to accelerate work in Europe on producing our own anti-ballistic capabilities on the continent in sufficient quantities. We will also continue engaging with the United States regarding its ability to support Ukraine. The PURL program is working, and we are grateful for that. Europe is helping us financially. But strong leadership from the United States in expanding anti-ballistic production is also urgently needed.
