I just created an OpenGL hardware renderer for STAR keitai emulator. No longer will heavy 3D games run badly. Minna no Golf Mobile 3 goes from like 4 FPS to a locked 30 FPS. All with proper 3D character rendering and texture loading.

For those wondering Kingdom Hearts Coded runs at 15fps by default. Increasing beyond will just break the game due to everything being tied to the FPS. In which case my hardware renderer took it from maybe 4-5 fps to a 15 fps cap. This is pretty normal for mobile games in 2008.

Every time I think the ESP32-S3 has hit its limit, someone finds another gear. This open-source Jet renderer is now pushing the S3 even harder. Real-time screen-space reflections, water ripple distortion, lens flare and 8 ships on screen, all running on a tiny MCU. Performance dropped from around 60 FPS to 45–50 FPS, but that's still wild for an ESP32-S3. And the developer thinks there is more performance left to squeeze out. No GPU. No desktop CPU. Just an ESP32-S3 doing real-time 3D graphics.

I’ve always loved character customization in games, spending way too much time choosing outfits, colors, and small details for my characters. So I wanted to see if I could recreate that feeling with an AI-powered workflow. Starting with MeshyAI, I created the 3D character and clothing pieces as separate assets. Then GPT 6 Astra helped build the experience around them, making it possible to select, swap, and combine different parts like a mini character creation studio. What surprised me most was how quickly a simple character idea could turn into something interactive. Imagine having two titles in your portfolio that are dubbed the "grandfather" and "father" of FPS games. And to then go full circle and end it with yet another iconic hit. id Software brought us Wolfenstein 3D (1992), the grandfather of FPS games. Then followed it up only a year later in 1993 with Doom, widely considered the father of all modern FPS games, due to its massive popularity, multiplayer deathmatch, and modding community - and defining the genre's mainstream popularity to this day. And if that wasn't enough, they gave us Quake in 1996. If there was ever a studio to not just create a genre but then to also dominate it for years and years, the vote would have to go to id Software, no? Sierra for adventures. MicroProse for simulations. id Software for FPS. Blizzard (or Westwood?) for RTS.

Skate 3 has been 100% recompiled for PC. It's reached it's 2.0 update which introduces a fully native renderer enabling 2x+ the FPS at 1/4 the GPU power, and Apple Silicon went from 25 to 250 FPS at 4K. Originally starting with rexglue, progression has advanced far enough to fully abandon its reliance on emulation via xenia for GPU rendering. This is proof of what's possible, there is plenty to be excited for! Go try it out!!

I told an AI to build a 3D racing game. And it actually understood the entire idea. It created the terrain, racers, obstacles, collisions, different environments AND even the leaderboard. I barely touched the 3D workflow. This is what an all-in-one AI 3D Agent should feel like. The game's map keeps changing with: → Mountains → boulders → Rainforests → thorns & trees → Ice → slippery chaos → Cherry blossoms → roadblocks & cars And you can literally tackle other riders and make them fall. But be careful because the game resets when you get hit by a car or boulder. All built with Hi3D Agent. Most 3D AI tools just create 3D models but Hi3D goes next level by creating 3D games.

I generated a character called Peelbert. 2 - Generate multiple outfits for Peelbert while retaining consistency. Indiedev day 79: retro wireframe renderer with trackball functionality! As someone noted, my retro UI was missing rotating wireframes, I added one! In the drone loaout screen you can now see a very low poly version of the drone in proper retro fashion! I created a cross platform wireframe renderer and trackball funcionality to interact with the mesh. For fun I also made a world space position floor function for the mesh vertexes so that the mesh jitters a bit when it rotates, mimicking the unstable 3D geometry from games in the 80s and before. The UI is still completely unfinished, but I decided to post the cool wireframe feature as I just finished it today. #indiegame #buildinpublic

Can't believe in less than 24 hours I created my own game with Claude and Three.js. Running in a browser at 120 FPS. All I had to do was give Claude the repo for Threejs and describe an MMO-like game for it to build from scratch. All the assets and mechanics you see are all from a prompt. As you can see, it is far from done but the progress is insane. Everyone should be using Three.js now without a doubt!

You can now interactively explore scenes from just a photo capture - no optimization, no 3D Gaussians, just load your images, run the model on a cloud GPU and stream the renders to your local browser.
