I perform reverse hypers multiple times a week. On this machine, I like to get some momentum for the “traction” effect it has on my lower back. Do you do these? All gyms should have one but when they do, nobody ever uses it! Louie Simmons, the legendary strength...

I’m too short for this

I've done nearly 20,000 workouts in my life, and I've seen what works for all levels. I created a free workout guide to show you what works, whether you're a beginner or advanced.

I love them so much, I bought one of the enormous Rogue machines for my basement.

Bought one for myself a few years ago now. I use it at least 3-4 times a week. I haven't had any major back pain since.

I need this machine. I’d have every one of my patients on it.

Literal traction! They make a smaller one that can fold and fit in an office

I have a herniated disc, it’s damn tough to do this, don’t know if I should work through the discomfort or avoid the exercise

I have one of these to fix my back. How to use it effectively? You gotta know momentum is involved. I know the beginner advice; control it, but I use it for the traction by momentum. That’s the point. Large sets involved…Control/momentum. Good post and reminder to work this.

The reverse hyper is a very poor design for a trunk extension machine compared with just about any regular seated trunk extension machine or supine hip extension machine.

LOVE the Reverse Hyper. Louie Simmons was a legit mad genius. The Belt Squat is another of his inventions that is under appreciated. 🤙🏽

Always wanted to try one of these, none of my gyms ever carried them.

They tend to collect dust and are considered the most expensive table in most gyms Too bad because it’s the greatest tool a gym can own

I have never seen that machine in any of my gyms, would 💯 use it though.

I’d use it very often if I had one

I do a variation of this on a rack. I’m working out how to load it with weight

One of the greatest machine ever for making the lower back feel great. I’ll never forget the first time I used it, doesnt take a lot of weight to feel good. I need one for my house.

I need to find better gyms. My area doesn't have any of this.

Is there a difference between executing these via legs (as you’re doing) vs. moving torso (if that makes sense…)

Your torso is on a pad

If I'm at a gym that has one of these I use it cuz it feels great on my back. Although getting on it is a challenge.

How effective is this though if you’ve just got momentum going after the first few swings? Surely it would be better if you used slow controlled movements? (Disclaimer I’ve never used a machine like this lol)

For the traction effect, no

Bought one for home, so far it has saved me from fusion surgery and greatly improved strength, stabilization, and back pain.

I bought one and use 2x a week. It's great.

Damn, if I did that say bye to my lower back for the rest of the week 😂 At my gym they have the regular one, where you lock your legs and bring your torso down and up. I hold a disc with my hands for extra resistance. But it makes more sense the one you’re doing tbh

I wish military gyms had better equipment. They have decent facilities but not of the really cutting edge shit.

I use this to release lactic acid from my lower back after heavy squat/ deadlift days, makes recovery so much smoother

Sir, Some people think momentum is good, but as always, "It depends." I happen to recommend avoiding momentum. Why? Well, I'm clumsy, would lose grip with my hands, and on the next downswing, flip myself onto the floor, flat on my back, ...again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Starting January 1st of this year, I promised myself I would start a new hobby. I’ve seen a lot of women talk on their love for Pilates on social media and I thought to myself, well.. maybe I should try 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve tried my best to commit to at least one class a week since- give or take some travel and it’s been the best for my recovery, fixing some imbalances, and improving my flexibility. In my opinion- weight lifting and Pilates = the best of both 🌎🧘🏼‍♀️ Here are some facts about Pilates that I’ve grown to learn myself! -Targets Deep Core Muscles Pilates focuses on deep stabilizing muscles — like the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor which support our spine, posture, and overall strength. These are the muscles that wrap around our torso like a corset! -Improves Core Stability, Not Just Strength Unlike sit ups that only work surface muscles, Pilates builds a stable core — teaching our muscles to stay engaged and support movements during everyday life and workouts (like weight training, walking, running). -Supports Spinal Alignment and Posture By strengthening the muscles around our spine and pelvis, Pilates improves posture and reduces back pain, which often stems from a weak or imbalanced core. I always thought my core was strong and doing Pilates consistently has helped me strengthen muscles I didn’t even know were there! Many of us women struggle with lower back pain and Pilates could help fix this issue 😊
