I promised a video of Microsoft Microsoft Office 365 working on Linux.. ..so this is Excel working on Linux using Soda 11.0-11 via Bottles 67.4 (cpak) (logged-in with my Office 365 License so even licensing works!) Once more, as I said, Soda 11.0-11 will do great things, be ready...

@Microsoft @Office can this work be upstreamed to wine? that would rock!

@Microsoft @Office Yes but I'll probably need help by the CodeWeavers guys because Soda is based on the Valve's Wine not the classic one. I am also considering putting everything into a DLL a la DXVK let's say instead of just bundling it into Soda.

@Microsoft @Office Ultimately, I think putting it into Wine would be best but, if it is something we can easily install like DXVK, that's fine by me!

@Microsoft @Office Excel formulas working on Linux via Bottles is impressive. Still hit the usual sheet bloat limits though?

@Microsoft @Office If you mean SPP, there i sno bypass, it uses the real Microsoft 365 flow, I patched Soda for the pieces around click-to-run, SPP license handling, WAM/OneAuth, WiniNet/WinHTTP and a few WinRT/Com APIs and it worked :D

@Microsoft @Office Looks good! 👏 Is Bottles using wine or is it its own emulator? Haven't used Linux for a few years now. Used to use wine to install MT5.

What it’s like to receive a job offer directly from Satya Nadella. Kelsey Hightower, former Google Distinguished Engineer, on the Microsoft offer that revealed a pay tier he didn't know existed: “I got this email from Satya, the CEO of Microsoft. He wrote this nice email: 'Kelsey, heard you had a good experience with the team' - remember I did the interview at the Microsoft headquarters - “heard really good things from the team, just wanted to let you know, you're going to be respected here. We're going to support you as a team.” I'm like, damn, support as a team? Coming from the CEO? So, number one, what an honor. This is the CEO of Microsoft. He has so many more important things to be doing than to be emailing me about a role. I opened the PDF - not very often in your career does a zero get added to the equation. And so you're looking at this like, I didn't even know that they do that. We know that it happens. But the person that graduated from high school in 1999, that chose the A+ Certification didn't know that was available. Even while I was at Google having all the success. Google paid me pretty well too, but I didn't know you can add another zero still. And I'm like, wow. I showed my wife and she was the one that said you should just go interview, like put your ego to the side and let's go see what's out there, so shout out to my wife. And so I get the PDF, and I'm like, okay, this number is perfect. Honestly, I don't know what to say, but let’s just find out, is this really the only number? So I remember giving a counter: you know what, I think it should be this. The funny thing is, Microsoft countered back higher, like we're not playing around. I'm like, oh, whoa. Now I understand that I don't understand this part of the game.”

Now that I am home and have access to my files I decided to do a quick test with one of my Vtubing avatars. It works way better with my larger iPad Pro (less crashing/more memory and more screen space) compared to the mini so I did want to bring that up. Importing the file over as GLB was more stable than just OBJ plus it kept the color info from the previous texture. I texture all my avatars on substance painter but have been looking at an alternative when I am out and about that is not on the computer and this actually hits all the right "wants". Adding a quick video of the way the app works for me. I like that it has layers, I can alter my brushes and even add stabilization when I am drawing (which I use that extensively on procreate so that was a huge plus). The stamp tools will come in handy as well but did not show it on this video. The file itself is imported as "one mesh" but each part is treated as their own separate piece which I show in the video. I do the same thing on substance painter making it really easy for me to texture. The app then exports the texture out for each object which is the same way I do so on substance. Overall I am extremely impressed with the work Sparseal has done on this application and see how useful this will be for my current work flow of texturing. I for one love the ability to be "portable" which is a big reason I sculpt so much with Nomad Sculpt on the iPad. Having the freedom to do your work away from a desk and if you feel like doing it outside is probable why I yearn for iPad apps so much like so. Give this app a look, it is free to try on the App Store (It is $19 to be able to export, but a one time buy). It is called "Wafer" for the iPad. I already use CozyBlanket from the same creator to do re topology so I expected this level of fantastic with this current app.

I went on an indefinite break from VRChat world creation back in May, with the intention to explore other platforms/options. I won't be returning to VRC as a world creator anymore, the break from it is now permanent. So what did I choose? Standalone games for platforms like Steam. I plan to keep making games for PC VR first (with desktop/non-VR support too), as I fall into the group that desperately want more PC VR games that aren't held back by untethered/mobile VR parity. Mobile VR support will be considered after the pc versions are complete, if doable. How can I? if I don't like the growing complexity of vrc world dev? I'm using a standalone version of Cyantrigger and with the help of my close friends at Studio CyFi, & the transition has been really smooth to standalone. I think this is a key part of my choice and it not being an empty promise, as I'm not working in the dark here. If I need help with something (which is a lot) I have my friends to help me through it. Plus, I have access to everything game devs have the freedom to use like plugins/scripts from asset store. So do I have a project in development? Not yet. I'm in the R&D phase, learning lots of new techniques & aspects of coding to help in future projects. I am already at the stage that I can recreate everything I've done from my past worlds, so anything I learn now is completely new stuff I lacked the skill to do before. A big focus of this R&D phase is learning how to make more advanced NPC/enemy logic, since I want to do more combat heavy projects. 2026, whats the plan? I want to be more open with what I'm working on, sharing stuff I'm happy with and also stuff that I've found difficult so far, so you can keep track of my journey to making my first standalone game for PC VR. So if you do choose to stick around, thank you.

Brad Jacobs on how to identify A players: "I do a mental exercise where I picture the person coming into my office and saying, 'Brad, I quit.' And then I try to feel and visualize what would be my reaction if that person came in to me and quit. If my reaction to that is, 'Yes! I don't want to smile, so I don't want to act like I'm happy about this. Nobody likes firing people. No problem at all, we'll replace them'—that's a C player. That's someone you should get the courage to get off the team right away. On the second category, if my reaction to it is, 'You know, it kind of sucks. I would've preferred that person stayed, but it's not the end of the world. We'll hire a headhunter. We'll get someone as good, maybe someone even better, and things will work out'—that's a B player. But if when I visualize that person quitting, my reaction to that is pure terror and absolute panic, and like somebody took a baseball bat and just whacked me in the stomach and then punched me in the face. I'm going, 'Oh my God! Like I'm never going to find someone as good as her. No way. I'm never going to have someone as talented as that person. I'm never going to have someone who brings to the table their particular superpower.' And I can't even hear what they're saying anymore because I'm just having this internal panic dialogue going on—that's what you call an A player. So I want all A players around me. I want people whose relationship with me I value so much that if it was terminated, I would be lost."
